Customized units for highly prestigious generals?

As a reward for exceptional performance, I think it'd be fun to have the option to customize unit stats for newly available ones. Perhaps only on the highest of difficulties too, for replay-ability and to streamline the experience for newer players.
Within reason of course and historical limitations (US tanks needing to be light enough to be crane lifted for example). Balance wise, the units will cost more prestige depending on the stats.
Perhaps only tanks and recon vehicles.
Historically canon, although you might not have enough influence at the level you're commanding.
