No stalemates allowed?

For the first time, my opponent and I ended up a Historical battle (Emesa) at 59% at the end of turn 24. To our surprise the game continued until he manage to catch a fragmented archer on turn 27 or 28 and the game ended. How long would it have continued otherwise, until someone wins? Are stalemates not allowed? And is it only for Historicals, or do custom battles also behave the same?

Historical battle have no turn limits, so you have to play them out. I once played a historical battle that went for 70 turns before I could convince the other player to call a draw (actually, I just told him that I was not going to play any more). I think this needs to be fixed...there should be *some* turn limit, be it 30 turns, or 40, or whatever.

Custom battles have a fixed length; 24 turns by default, but for XL battles I always change it to 36 turns. I don't recall if there is some variability with turn length (ie, whether a 24 turn game can in fact go to 25 or 26 turns).

Top right hand corner of your post, second box along is a "x". This will delete your last post.

Thanks 76mm and stockwellpete. I've deleted them. Not sure why I didn't see the X before.
I agree 76mm, not sure they should have no turn limit. Or at least darkness should be reflected in the game.

I agree, the historical battles should have some limit.
