100 point disadvantage mirror
100 point disadvantage mirror
Hey everyone.
I'm currently practicing with the Hannibal in Africa army and thought that I'd put myself through my paces by playing at a mild points disadvantage. Would anyone be up for playing a mirror match where one side is 100 points down?
The advantaged side would have 50 points more and the disadvantaged 50 less. In the mirror, the other side would have the advantage.

Re: 100 point disadvantage mirror
I'm almost tempted to volunteer but most probably I'd still lose badly and be laughed at and then I would feel even more feeble so I better stick to playing the nice campaigns.
I like the Hannibal army too. I used it in the Hannibal campaign. I like the combination of African troops and elephants.

I'm happy for others to step in but if you're struggling to find opponents I'm quite willing to be a test-dummy.

What faction would you like to take? It can be anything in the lists, not just the historical suggestions.Kabill wrote:I'm happy for others to step in but if you're struggling to find opponents I'm quite willing to be a test-dummy.
Re: 100 point disadvantage mirror
I'm open to suggestions - if there's a particular kind of army you want to practice against then you're welcome to say.
Otherwise, possibly one of the early Persian lists, or maybe Sassanids (I need the practice for a campaign game I'm in). Or for something a bit more conventional, maybe Dacians (I quite enjoyed them in the tournament) or Palmyrans (whom I playing in the knock-out tournament)

How about Palmyrans vs Carthaginians (my advantage) vs Carthaginians vs Bosporans (your advantage)?Kabill wrote:I'm open to suggestions - if there's a particular kind of army you want to practice against then you're welcome to say.

Re: 100 point disadvantage mirror
If you are still looking for a game, how about Pontic 110-85 BC against your Carthage?
Re: 100 point disadvantage mirror
Sure. Do you mind if we just do one half of the mirror first? I've got a few games on at the moment.Nosy_Rat wrote:If you are still looking for a game, how about Pontic 110-85 BC against your Carthage?

Sure thing.
Re: 100 point disadvantage mirror
Comprehensive losses to Ludendorf in both my battles - very well played.
One thing I've found playing against that Carthaginian list is that it is exceptionally flexible in terms of the units it can field, making it difficult to anticipate what you might have to fight. Not looking forward to the prospect of having to fight it again in the tournament; hopefully I'll dodge this particular match-up (maybe by crashing out in the first round...)
