Turn 9 sees me close to total annihilation; I decide to retreat to save as much of my army as possible.

Thank you, Ludendorf, for a great, if painful, FOG2 lesson! :)

The final tally came as a bit of a surprise: It seems retreating was the Seleucid commander´s most inspired decision on that rather disastrous day!

Thank you sIg3b for your excellent coverage of the battle. :D

It's worth mentioning here that I had a disproportionate share of the luck in this battle. Not just one but several of my units stood firm for multiple turns against far better quality units; this was particularly remarkable of irregulars who, under pressure in the open from heavy units like phalanxes, have a tendency to shatter like glass due to low combat odds making bad defeats more likely and the -1 cohesion test modifier. On top of that (and even discounting the flank attacks I got in) I won the vast majority of 'even' melees across the field.

Alright!
I'm an utter noob at this game, with about ten battles so far. I'd like to try multiplayer out. This will be my first multiplayer battle.

I'm giving myself quite a fat advantage, due to, again, being a noob.
I've issued the challenge. Password for it is "finjosh".

Hi Yaitz.

I'm sorry for the delay in me picking this up. I'm facing problems IRL right now. It might be a while before I can continue this.

Sorry.

Ludendorf.

No problem; I'm no stranger to having IRL problems get in the way of online stuff.
Hopefully it works out for you.
:)
