Division C
Bluefin (Kappadokian) defeats General Shapur (Spanish) 62 - 59.
Lots of rallies kept Team Kappa alive, with a janky warband being the final straw. General Shapur definitely deserved better as the run of battle was clearly in his favor. Thanks for the game!

Division A
Klayeckles (Arab) 52 beat Geffalrus (Byzantine) 27
a wild battle where the byzantines took a central hill early but paid a steep price taking it. it looked over for them, but then the arab elephants pursued routers and exposed a flank. soon the elephants were rampaging thru the arab ranks--causing several troops to falter. in just minutes the battle swung wildly in favor of the byzantines. But the arabs weren't finished. they set up a massive missile barrage against the troops on the hill, and soon the byzantine hill was surrounded on all sides. several break out attempts by the byzantine lancers failed, while the dismounted lancers faced greater numbers and local outflanks on another side. the battle finally ended when the arab cav penetrated and began cutting into the flanks. GG and crazy. we had about a 25pt swing in one turn!

LoL, still gotta find a way to beat Geffalrus and pick up a win between Triarii and Harvey. I wouldn't call that a good chance.stockwellpete wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:12 am
MikeC_81 (Division A) and fikabo (Division C) both with 2 wins this week giving them a very good chance to win their respective divisions.

Division C
MorkinTheFree - Romano-British 407-599 AD defeated lydianed - Byzantine 551-578 AD with score 43-0
Funny facts: Game lasted 19 turns, I was attacking (charging) uphill positioned Byzantines and managed to win without Romano-British losses... Very strange game.

He's not wrong, it was a crazy game. Here's me taking the hill and getting tired of his massed archers dropping volleys on me. His elephants eye my lancer flanks hungrily..... Byzantines strike back! Don't call it a comeback, I been here for- -oh, nevermind, here's the high water mark before everything gets flanked. GG Klay - real fun contest all around.klayeckles wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 8:43 pm Division A

Division A
The Lydian Civil War, Sunnyboy (Lydian with Greek ally) defeated Morkin the Free (Lydian), 51-25
With some woodland guarding one of my flanks, Morkin's Lydian B team was unwilling to advance on the A teams defensive line and risk any hidden surprises from the woods. After a short lull the A team advanced towards the right while refusing the left flank. The B team response was naturally to advance on their right while refusing the left flank. As the axis of the battle lines pivoted the B team was having the best of the fight catching a number of skirmishers and one tardy unit of raw hoplites, ruthlessly putting them to the sword and lance. However the more numerous B cavalry was somewhat delayed by this. As the two battle lines clashed, the A teams larger infantry line gained the ascendancy and secured a win before the enemies more numerous horse could impact the fight.
Thanks for a good game Morkin.

Division C
fikabo (Jewish with Roman) defeats Karvon (Sarmatian 350 BC-24 AD) 50:21
A flat map except for the hill on my right wing, two forests in the middle on both sides. Sea on the left. I put the stronger forces on the left, the weaker right wing was to defend on the hill.
When the left wing approached the opponent unexpectedly began to shift his right wing to the left.
Half of his horses passed, 5 lancers remained and I managed to successfully attack them by blocking fall back with skirmishes.
Because the advantage of the opponent on the right wing was too great, I decided to do similar move (transfer my right wing to left).
As a result, the front turned 90 degrees. I had about 15% advantage (I lost skirmishes, my opponent lost lancers).
Then opponent 5 irregular foots came out of the forest. I decided to focus on them because it is an easier task for my legions than evading lancers. The Sarmatian decided to circle my right wing (hence some of his horses made 3/4 wheels around my units). I inhibited these intentions with the help of skirmish, losing more, but some his horses also disappeared. After destroying 4 infantry units, there were enough points to win the game.
Thanks for game.
