kronenblatt wrote: Tue Jun 23, 2020 5:10 am The different core sections have different army sizes, e.g., Biblical and Early Middle Ages having Large while Early and Later Antiquity having Medium. Is there a reasoning behind this, or are these merely the... "rules"? :)

Furthermore, does it change between seasons?
Just to give some variety. No, it doesn't change from season to season.
Fair enough: thanks for clarification Pete.

Division C

rexhurley (Hindu North) defeats devoncop (andalusians) 62/57

in a totaal slug fest. Rng sucked for the Indian cav who outnumbering their enemy 2.5 to 1 still got smashed. Also saw a lot of double morale drops for foot. the difference in the end was some breakthrough nellies exploiting down a line flank after flank til then I was of the opinion Devoncop was going to houdini out of the hand cuffs

Division D

edb1815 - Breton 411-579 AD defeated Doyley50 - Dacian, Carpi 107-380 AD 54% -25%

Well played by my opponent thanks for the game. The Dacian warbands smashed through the heavy foot in the center of the Breton line like butter and the situation looked grim. The Bretons had a cavalry advantage on the left flank and used a large hill to hold off the warbands on the right flank. Numbers and the steep hill helped the Bretons eventually win out on the right whilst the cavalry won by weight of numbers and fell upon the warbands in the center. The warbands really suffer when they are disordered which helped the inferior Breton infantry.

Division C

SawyerK (Roman with Armenian allies) defeated Swuul (Germanic/Gothic Horse Tribes) by 59 to 31.

Each side of the map had rough hills that were ill suited to heavy troops which complicated the battle for both armies. The Romans had more troops on the right flank of the field which allowed them to get several flank attacks while their left flank was held just long enough by medium troops and archers placed on a rough hill that was difficult to assault for the war bands. It was a close game until the very end when the Romans gained several flank attacks in the center.

Division F

Morat (Ostrogoths/Franks) beat Conteshard (Romans/Arabs) 63-46

Brutal battle on either flank as the Ostrogoth cavalry just overcame camelry, cavalry and some foot. Mayhem in the centre with the warbands doing just enough to break through. But was close (too close) throughout.

Thanks to Conteshard for a hard fought game!

cromlechi - Ptolemaic 166-56 BC draws with General Shapur - Seleucid 166-125 BC 39 -18.

A strange game where I spent most of my time chasing light troops around the map. Time ran out (and numerous rallies) to prevent me getting to 40% inflicted casualties. Thanks for the game.

(2-0)

(Result not included in table - something wrong here as cromlechi reported victory over General Shapur about 5 reports above. PM sent stockwellpete 23/6)
Apologies, the draw was with Karvon not General Shapur.

I feel like 2 really good battle plans were tested against each other in this and it came down to the slimmest of margins. Thanks Cosimo for a fun, entertaining, and friendly match that was also very competitive. Best of luck with the rest of your matches.
