Re: Cataphracts

One major advantage of cataphracts in V2 is that they are much more effective against troops with crossbows. In V2, crossbows count a plus POA against any mounted in more than one rank except heavilry armoured and LH. Combined with dropping the -POA for support shooting, it means that mounted who aren't heavily armoured are at a sbstantial disadvantage charging foot with support shooting from crossbows.

I should of posted this earlier, better late than never.

At the last Wellington Warlords annual wargames convention, 'Call 2 Arms', a themed FoG AM competition was held, Rome and her Enemies up to 450AD, 900 points.
There were 8 of us, 5 with Romans, 3 with enemies of Rome.
The winner, Andre Evers of Christchurch using Parthians, fielded 4 BGs of 6 Cataphracts, each with its own General.
Andre won by a huge margin.
The event was held over the ides of August this year.
