Has the v2 changes in command and control given any change in the perceived number and "quality" of generals in a Light Horse army?
I'm going to be trying out a Skythian army and I'm considering 3x FCs

Re: Light Horse - how many generals?
The command range for generals has not changed. However, TCs can only control 2 BGs as a battle line, FCs can only control 4 BGs in a battle line and ICs six (may be eight as I don't have my book with me).

Which should work quite well - and you have the option of a +1 flank march should you need it.I'm going to be trying out a Skythian army and I'm considering 3x FCs
Of course for the same points you could have an IC and 2 x TCs. Personally I find an IC very valuable - especially if you're going to be taking a lot of shooting.

In essence that is the choice I've been struggling with - I've never used anything like it before and have been scouring old threads and Madaxeman looking for inspiration.petedalby wrote:Which should work quite well - and you have the option of a +1 flank march should you need it.I'm going to be trying out a Skythian army and I'm considering 3x FCs

So, leading on, is it the consensus that 3 generals will be enough at 800pts?

I think many people still take 4 generals but for a LH based army, 3 should be okay - just don't commit them to combat. So, leading on, is it the consensus that 3 generals will be enough at 800pts?

You need to keep the enemy as far back to his baseline as possible to enable you to move your troops to the most advantageous position. A line of 2 BG of LH are as good as 4 for this. Your remaining LH can move up very quickly once the front line have stopped marches by the enemy. The remaining LH should be 7MU behind your front line, enabling you to switch generals between the 2 lines quite easily. An IC gives a bullet proof cover and higher PBI. I'd take IC and 2 TC.

I played (read was defeated in a humiliating manner) by a Mongol army with 1xIC and 1xFC under v1.
The IC is good for shoot outs and maybe get a third general if you don't have only superior troops.
