It is a lovely game, isn't it, tomlowshang? Thanks for letting us know about that. So if somebody with decent enough hardware tries it, we could have FGII rated at Platinum!tomlowshang wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 2:05 pm Gold is level 2 success. It's only gold because it requires DXVK support for DX11 to work properly. DXVK is only available on newer graphics cards so FGII doesn't work on my old GPU.
You must have an impressively old graphics card! What are you using?tomlowshang wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 2:05 pm Gold is level 2 success. It's only gold because it requires DXVK support for DX11 to work properly. DXVK is only available on newer graphics cards so FGII doesn't work on my old GPU.

Well done on those Free drivers! I didn't think AMD had Free drivers (equivalent to the Nouveau project for Nvidia.)tomlowshang wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 1:05 am I'm use an AMD HD6970 with open source drivers. GPU is about 10 years old so, yeah, it's ancient!
I really need to upgrade but I'm broke, unfortunately, so it will be awhile before that happens.

AMD supports the free drivers very well. They publish all GPU ISAs and contribute code to Mesa. Nouveau is the result of reverse engineering Nvidia's GPU instruction set which is an impressive feat by itself.uneducated wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 8:59 amWell done on those Free drivers! Very few Slitherine games push the GPU very hard, to be honest. The performance loss is in Wine's D3D to OpenGL translation. The D3D to Vulkan translation is more efficient.uneducated wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 8:59 am Also, that is super cool red-lining your GPU like that, pushing it to its limit. Isn't it great that Slitherine produce such good games which don't rely on fancy graphics to make it fun?
