12th-13th May 2012
COMPETITION INFORMATION
Welcome to the Staffordshire Swords information site.
Hopefully this will be one of many competitions organised on a yearly basis.

VENUE
BridgeTown Social Club Cannock
170 Walsall Rd Cannock WS11OJB

RULES
The format for this competition will be teams of two individuals,
playing 650pts in 15mm on 5 by 3 foot tables and combining their
scores over the weekend.

Game duration is 3 hrs 15mins per game.
Deployment as per rules, (this will allow LH to attack straight away).
Compulsory terrain must go on table, and then it is 2 to 3 pieces per player.
Scoring as per FOG score sheet.
Game times are on the

Saturday 9.30am-12.45 1.45-17.00
Sunday 9.00am-12.15 1.15-16.30

We hope by combining 8 sets of scores that the teams will be able to absorb a bad
game within the team and consequently one good game will not allow teams be out of reach.
Lists and entry fees (to Dino Monticoli) must be in one week before the competition.

By Email:
dinomonticoli@sky.com
Or Post:
Dino Monticoli

Ramada Hotel A5 Watling Street Cannock Tel: 01543 461361
Longford House “beefeater” A5 Watling Street Cannock Tel: 01543 572721

DIRECTIONS
From Junction 11 M6 take the A460 to Cannock.
At the next roundabout, take the A460 (not the A4601) to Cannock
This will take you on the slip road which has the M6 toll alongside it.
You will see 2 tower buildings, as you follow this road.
At the large roundabout at the bottom of the slip road, take the 2nd exit
(Walsall road A34) under the bridge, you will come to a small roundabout,
the venue is the building on the left turn left and the car park entry is on the left.

The social club itself supplies light food (toasties etc.) and there are several places
to eat within a few minutes of the venue and either myself or Adrian will be very happy
to supply you with directions.

Also the Alumwell Club is actively recruiting new members, speak to Adrian or
myself if you are interested in more details.

There will be no specific umpires, although if there is need for one we will resolve
the issue as a combined team.

Any points or questions, email: dinomonticoli@sky.com and either myself or Adrian will be
only too happy to assist.

Regards
Dino Monticoli Adrian Ball

This is next weekend... Dino is still asking for any extra players.

If you fancy a game I can recommend it. The venue is light and big. Refreshments will be on hand, and it generally a very friendly event

Worth a look.

thanks

Simon

I have Jacob this weekend Dave. I asked if he wanted to team up and do Stafford but he wasn't bothered. He wants to play at Birmingham in 2 weeks as that didn't mean the full weekend away for him.

Thanks to Dino for such a great event would recommend this next year to people to give it a shot. Great mix of armies fought three armies I had'nt faced before. :D

Well done to Spike for winning the single event and Spike and Paul for winning the Team event, even if they both used Bankrupt armies. :D

I would say with experience Numidians arn'nt all that bad after a bit of practice :) .

Still great weekend and we got to see the football as well.

I would consider this event next year if it was not on the same weekend as Campaign.

More Swiss Pikemen Facts

We don't know if Swiss Pikemen enjoyed a good fight. No-one ever managed to give them one.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. A Swiss Pike block a day kills.

A drilled Swiss Pike block turning 90 degrees will unscramble an egg.

A Swiss Pike block built the Matterhorn with buckets and spades whilst digging a camp latrine.

If you get charged by a Swiss Pike block in your dream, you die.

A Swiss Pike Block can have their cake AND eat it too.

Some people get lucky and kill two birds with one stone. A unit of Infants Perdu's once killed four birds with half a stone. What's that? You say there's no such thing as half a stone? The four dead birds didn't think so either.

S is for Swiss Pike block, as is every other letter of the alphabet.

Swiss Pikemen don't breathe, they hold air hostage.

Swiss Scientist Einstein's original Theory of Relativity was; if a Swiss Pike Block hits you, your relatives will feel it.

During the middle ages, The Swiss National Lottery numbers were not random. They were just the number of people Swiss Pikemen killed that given day.

During the wars against Charles The Bold a Swiss Pike block came across a bear in a forest near Morgaten. It was so terrified that it fled North into the arctic. It was also so terrified that all of its decendents now have white hair.
