Page 17 is page 17 of the rulebook. It states a cavalry division must have 2 BG of cavalry as its minimum.

I am a bit lost . I suppose pg 17 is page 171 and that the absolute minimum for a cavalry division is 3 units . Either 2 cav brigades + 1 artillery or 3 cav brigades !

It will be very difficult for some nations ...

Or is it clearly : a minimum of 2 CAV units ! . The wording "up to" seems to give a choice , you take it or not .

Sorry English is not my mother language and I am not aware of all the subtilities of shaekespeare' language

Clearly a cavalry division with 3 cavalry units or a division with 2 cavalry units plus one artillery unit meet the minimum "unit" requirement for a division, but I don't know if the question has clearly been asked and answered....

*Is cavalry division with only 2 cavalry units and NO artillery unit a valid division?"

Thanks a lot .

It seems 2 CAV is enough for a division ( pg 17 rulebook ) Thanks to Bathergut

OK. So the bit at the back of E & E is an editorial oversight and all division do not indeed need to contain a minimum of 3 BGs. This restriction applies only to infantry and mixed divisions.

Many thanks.

Terry did indeed confirm this somewhere in the postings here. Yes, 2 cav. and no arty. = valid cavalry division.
