Basing 10mm figures

Postby danno81 » Thu Sep 27, 2012 4:14 pm

So I think I've settled on 10mm for the "grand scale" effect; I ordered a few batches of miniatures from Old Glory (the 40% off on their army deal is fantastic). But I have a basing question for folks out there. For those of you who play at this scale, how are you basing your figures? The old glory figures come on a convenient 5 model strip so I was planning on doing the 15mm standard of bases that are 40mm x 30mm. The strips fit neatly on a 40mm frontage and I was thinking 2 or 3 lines deep per base. Has anyone tried this? Do the bases look good, or too busy? Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Dan

I thnk you want them on the 15mm base sizes.

There are a lot of people who play 10mm on 15mm sizes so that is not uncommon.

Best thing is to try placing the rows on bases and see what looks best to you. Originally I was going to go with 4 28mm figs for a skirmishing element of light infantry, but after getting them on the base it looked too crowded for me. Ended up going with 3 for the light infantry skirmish element and 2 for a skirmisher attachment. Looks better to me.

I use 10mm pendraken for my french. adding extra figs for a massed effect. I think it works well. Mine will be a warfare again to play these goliath armies :)
Cheers
