Cybvep wrote:What a meat-grinder. Your biggest problems seem to be lack of air superiority in Western Europe and a bit too thin frontline in the East. However, since you control most of the map, your PP income is high. Maybe with a few turns of respite you will be able to repair your air units and build some additional troops so that you will get more breathing room in the East. Even though the Soviets are strong (no real Barbarossa, after all), I would be more worried about the Western Allies in 1943 because of their airpower. I doubt that Morris will attack Vichy anytime soon, since that would give you even more income.
Unhurt Soviets probably have ~200 PP income per turn, as soon as they get a bit of tech, they are going to be a problem too (and big one).
German PPs and oil are high, but manpower is not. And I simple can't have air superiority for prolonged time, Allies have like 20 fighter units total against my 8 (which I already can't affort to repair every turn anyway).
Will do my best to hold anyway.

Some fighting this turn, mostly in France. Almost quiet in other sectors.

Not much happens in Axis turn, repairs mostly:

This turn we got usual bombing in France and some real Soviet attacks:

This time we responded in the East, killing couple of Soviet units near Brest-Litovsk and restoring straight frontline there.

Image

Still can't mount any real counterattack in France, our good units are constantly bombed, odds are way too bad. Upgraded my armour there instead.

Image

Killed Soviet mountain unit in Iran aswell.

Soviet air force is huge for this stage of the game. Counting the couple of Soviet fighters in Iran, VVS currently has 12 fighter units. This seems to be excessive.

Should we put a limit for fighter units either? To make it something like country limit per year +2. This way only 2 additional fighter could be bought past the country limit per year without augmenting the cost of the unit.

I don't think any balance changes should be made based on games like that. In average game we don't see 12 Soviet fighters in 1943, do we?

12 FTR's no. Maybe 8 to 9 FTR's but with more TAC's :)

Yeah, this isn't an usual game in any way. I mean, how often do you see Vichy France, Axis-controlled Spain/Portugal and Axis-controlled ME at the same time? Besides, when the SU enters the war in 1942, it's a whole new ball game.

its actually quite hard for the Axis to win with a 42 Russian entry, if the Allies are only moderately lucky then they will usually win. The worst thing for the Allies is if you get a combination of very low convoys and very poor labs for the Russians - that makes it very hard!

Is there a way for SAC to attack combat units in a city hex? When I try, it seems to bomb the city instead.

x toggles from Strategic to Tactical attack - color of letters changes too I think (to white?) - try it a couple of times

SAC's performing a Tactical attack is really more shock to the unit than a true TAC unit attacking. This is to simulate the Carpet bombing

the 8th air force performed in Normandy to assist in the ground forces breakout. We tried to apply this to TAC units were the 'x' would have the TAC units perform a

Strategic attack instead. We discovered the two units used different logic so trying to do this was very difficult. So we left it the way it is now.

TAC's and FTR's will perform a Strategic attack if the resource in question does not have a unit on it.

Just more fighting everywhere, and it does not look like it will end anytime soon.

And usual Axis response:

Casualties to date - rather high, as you can expect.

Allied attacks continue:

In the East we had to abandon Latvia and retreat to Niemen defensive positions. Nothing new in other sectors.

I think you can now crush the landings in Normandy and then, to redeploy the surplus of units in the Eastern front.

I am afraid quite the opposite - more and more landings would occur as soon as good weather arrives.

More of the same fighting. Allies are slowly gaining ground hex by hex and it will be hard to drive them back.

During Axis turn Eastern front was restored again. Our subs arrived to English channel to intercept transports and wrech some chaos to Allied navy there. Their destroyers still have low tech level.

Allied attacks in France and Middle East continue. Mud in the East, no action there this time.

Axis turn was rather quiet too. We killed one of British mechs in Normandy though.
