I include a "how to" here, in case you're interested...

I'm guessing you've prepared a single scenario template and will change the required .bam, .bsf, squads.csv for each BG game? Open the Granfali GJS zip, attached below, there will be three files inside.

(1) Copy Swap1.bsf into \YourScenarioName\Data\Battle\Scripts (this is the code that makes "swap" work)
(2) Copy action_swap1.dds into \YourScenarioName\Data\UI\Textures (this is the icon graphic; you might need to create the UI\Textures folders if they don't already exist in your template)
(3) Open your own $default.bsf in \YourScenarioName\Data\Battle\Scripts. Type include "swap1.bsf" at the bottom of that text file and save it. If you don't see a $default.bsf then just copy the one from the zip below directly into \YourScenarioName\Data\Battle\Scripts (it tells BA that you've created a new command called "swap")
(4) Finally, open Text1.txt in \YourScenarioName\Scenarios. Add these three lines to the bottom of that text file and save.
IDS_UNIT_SWAP,"Swapping places",
IDS_TT_SWAP,"Swap positions with friendly unit",
IDS_INVALID_TILE,"Cannot swap into that terrain type",

They're the screen messages that pop up before and during a swap move. Don't forget the commas at the end of each line.

Eh voila monsieur... C'est accompli... You now have unit swap for any scenario that uses your template... AT guns gain the ability to move one space by swapping places with an adjacent vehicle or infantry unit... Onto the beaches, gentlemen!

Because I need to test system properly (one battle could be few), besides, beach battles can be frustating for german players... Ost troops are no match for the tommies.

Hey Granfali, Mike and I are having trouble with your Rulebook download link. When we click it, it jumps to a DepositFiles page that asks for our mobile/cellphone number... If we're brave enough to enter that (please don't let them spam me with marketing sms messages!) it says it's going to charge us £1.50 ($2.50) every five days... and even then, it won't let us download your file... Re-clicking your link just takes us back to the request for a phone number... Re-entering the same phone number reports a "you're already subscribed" error... We appreciate your fabulous work so it's really frustrating we can't take part... Would you be happy to email the Rulebook to one of us, and we'll put anything you want up on Dropbox? No, no. Don't pay anithing. It's absolutely free. You only have to press in "regular download" (no gold download), wait for 60 seconds and type a captcha. After that you can download the file.

I'm going to try upload to Dropbox too.

First, this is a nice looking concept. I have considered doing a campaign for Omaha and Utah beaches. Each would have their own set of missions with Utah having Airborne missions like "Timmes Orchard" or "La Fiere Bridge" and the capture of Carentan. Nice job!

Second, I am not so sure I like the "Swap" feature. Clue me in on something. Can you "swap" a flak 88 with another unit? I can see "swapping" a 37mm AT gun with a squad (the squad helped push it there) but the larger guns did not roll as easily over open ground. Esp. if it had rained. Having never used the feature I am not sure how it works. How do you do the "swap" in the game UI during your own turn?

Being able to swap an 88 would give a player a tremendous advantage on defense. I hope that it uses up all of the APs for guns (it should).

Hey OW, It's ok, we don't have to have swap. "Swap" and "Merge" are a couple of mod commands that came up after requests from other scenarios. Swap is useful if there's a narrow pathway, perhaps a one-lane bridge, that has to be crossed but has your own blocking units on it. Essentially it just swaps the locations of two adjacent units. Right now the mod prevents invalid terrain moves, eg. swapping panzers into trees. It's relatively easy to prevent certain unit types, eg. artillery, from using it. But if the consensus is that people don't want it, happy to live without. Tends to help attackers more than defenders...

Hey Iprop,

Theoretically GJS should work with BA v2.0.6 due out in 3-6 weeks, I believe... You just need to download the campaign files for each turn...

We've just taken Sword beach and Pegasus, although we're taking a licking in Merville... Need to secure the town to limit German artillery... It is TOTALLY AWESOME!

If I understood Pip correctly, the plan for 2.0.6 is to make it possible for anyone (including iPad) to download user-generated campaigns... Each turn in GJS is essentially a user-generated campaign which contains a single map for each of the players... We all play our own map from that campaign, use the results to determine the impact on the strategic map, then wipe that campaign and download the next one... Should be possible...

I think Granfali had u on his list to fight on our Allied side, waaaaaay back in August, but we lost you MIA...

There's an opportunity to start a second campaign so that others can play...
Probably 2-3 German players vs 2-3 Brits... with tweaks to make broader selection possible for starting locations and force selection...
