“IInd FoG Challenger’s Tournament – Seleucid Empire”
Rules
The tournament foresees the presence from a minimum of 16 to a maximum of 32 participants, that will confront each other in a preliminary round played with a revised “swiss system” and a knock-out phase of quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
At the beginning of the tournament the participants will be ranked taking care of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’s rating ladder and placing players that didn’t participated in the League at the bottom.
Then the players will be divided in four groups of the same size (of 4 players in the case of 16 participants, of 5 in the case of 20, of 6 in the case of 24, of 7 in the case of 28 and of 8 in the case of 32) from the top to the bottom: that is to say: Group A: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Group B: 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th .. and so on.
The preliminary round will be played in 4 paired matches as follows:
1st match:
Group A 1st vs Group A 3rd
Group A 2nd vs Group A 4th
Group B 1st vs Group B 3rd
Group B 2nd vs Group B 4th
and so on ..
2nd match:
Group A 1st vs Group B 3rd
Group A 2nd vs Group B 4th
Group A 3rd vs Group B 1st
Group A 4th vs Group B 2nd
and so on ..
3rd match:
Group A 1st vs Group C 3rd
Group A 2nd vs Group C 4th
Group A 3rd vs Group C 1st
Group A 4th vs Group C 2nd
and so on ..
4th match:
Group A 1st vs Group D 3rd
Group A 2nd vs Group D 4th
Group A 3rd vs Group D 1st
Group A 4th vs Group D 2nd
and so on ..
In the case of group with an odd number of participants (i.e. with a total of 20 or 28 gamers) the matches will be played as follows:
1st match:
1st vs 3rd
2nd vs 4th
5th vs 7th
6th vs 8th
and so on ..
2nd match:
Group A 1st vs Group B 4th
Group A 2nd vs Group B 5th
Group A 3rd vs Group B 3rd
Group A 4th vs Group B 1st
Group A 5th vs Group B 2nd
and so on ..
This will allow to know the composition of all the games from the beginning and should also lead to a quite fairly definition of the real strength of every player with only 4 paired games, given the fact that each one will have to play against 4 opponents echeloned along all the ladder.
The knock-out phase will be played per group of 8 gamers taking care of the results of the preliminary round, so that the first 8 players will contend each other for the places from the 1st to the 8th, the following 8 players for the places from the 9th to the 16th and so on.
The schedule will be the subsequent:
1st match:
game a: 1st vs 8th
game b: 4th vs 5th
game c: 2nd vs 7th
game d: 3rd vs 6th
2nd match
game e: winner game a vs winner game b
game f: winner game c vs winner game d
game g: looser game a vs looser game b
game h: looser game c vs looser game d
3rd match
game j: winner game e vs winner game f (1st – 2nd place)
game k: looser game e vs looser game f (3rd – 4th place)
game l: winner game g vs winner game h (5th – 6th place)
game m: looser game g vs looser game h (7th – 8th place)
All the matches will be played with the DAG system, using the paired game option, DM on & FoW off, with 550 pts. pre-arranged armies, following the subsequent pattern:
Preliminary Round
match 1 Seleucid Successor – Maurya Indian
match 2 Seleucid Successor – Ipsos Alliance Successor
match 3 Seleucid Successor – Galatian (Seleucid War)
match 4 Seleucid Successor – Attalid Pergamene
Quarter finals
match 1 Seleucid Successor – Ptolemaic Successor
Semi-Finals
match 1 Seleucid Successor – Mid Republican Roman (later)
Final
match 1 Seleucid Successor – Parthian
The points will be awarded to the players taking care of the comprehensive results of each paired game, in the following manner:
8 pts. 2 victories
6 pts. 1 victory 1 draw
5 pts. 1 victory 1 defeat (with better BG difference)
4 pts. 2 draws / 1 victory 1 defeat (with equal BG difference)
3 pts. 1 defeat 1 victory (with worst BG difference)
2 pts. 1 draw 1 defeat
0 pts. 2 defeats
The BG difference will be comprehensively calculated counting in positive for the winner the number of BG lacking to reach the loss threshold and counting in negative for the looser the number of BG overpassing it.
Example:
Seleucids (35/39) = +4
Indians (47/41) = -6
Total BG difference = Seleucids +10
Whereas two players will end a match of the knockout phase in a draw, they will play another play-off paired match to decide who will be qualified.
The preset array of the armies will be communicated before the beginning of the tournament.

First of all, in order of not being misunderstood, I'd like to point out that this second edition of the tournament is not scenario based but will be played with DAG system battles, using preset armies. In the next few days, maybe also tomorrow, the arrays of every army will be published.
Secondly it must be remembered that in order to play the participants need to own the following expansions: "Immortal Fire" & "Rise of Rome".
Finally no particular skill or experience is required, but just remember that the participants that haven't still played in the League (LOEG) will be placed at the bottom of the player's ladder.
Hoping everything's clear now, let all sign up for the game!
