Re: Killer Player or Killer Army Competition
Is something missing, or are you saying i should reflect upon my post..?petergarnett wrote:Aristides wrote:i Just noticed this means i won all my games in the HYW department - but this doesn't mean I am to lead the army in the next round? Or is the '3 best games' rule only used as a sort of tie-breaker? (Totally neutrally and objectively, and without prejudice or favour of any kind, i do think if a player beats all the others in an army's sector he should lead it)
Or actually do we have to wait till there are 6 players in each group?
Second question: When/what do we do with very slow games? I have had a challenge up in Sparta for grudgebrnger and a Yorkist one up now for 5 days...

I had to go somewhere, and there wasn't too much choice. Show me how much you've improved.Aristides wrote:Oh dear...Tiavals wrote: and IF Saka to Later Hoplite Greek.

Couldn't we use a player's average score across all the games played?

One unlucky game could then potentially drag a players score right down.

Re: Killer Player or Killer Army Competition
Looks like we've finished games for 5 armies so far:-
Pyrrhic - leader Gazxtrix
Carthaginian - leader Tiavals
Seleucid - leader Tiavals
HYW English - leader Aristides
Galatian - leader Ferb
If anyone else wants to try one of these armies (& you're not upto your limit of 2 per expansion / book) then please let me know. Otherwise I've declare these leaders to be the winners.
The Welsh and the Spartans appear to be only one battle from finishing.
Looking to drop the following armies as not enough players:-
Bosporan
Parthian
Condotta Milan
Medieval Castillian
Saka
Classical Indian
Again please let me know if you object to this.
Only 3 armies appear to have attracted enough interest from SAS but I've leave this open a little longer.

Mid-Republican Mosh Pit
RoR- Mid Republican Romans vs Mid Republican Romans
Flatsix518 (4/30) vs Fedem (42/36)
VPs for Flatsix518 :
Winning 2vp
32 break points caused to opponent = 10p
3736/9600 manpower loss caused = 38.9% = 7vp
Camp not looted = 0vp
Total VP: 19 VP
VPs for Fedem:
24 Break points caused to opponent = 8vp
3343/9600 manpower loss caused = 34.8% = 6vp
Camp not looted = 0vp
Total VP: 14vp
I approached this battle with trepidation. Fedem gave me one of the worst beatings I've ever suffered at FoG in LoEG Season Six. I still wince from it.
This battle was on the same battlefield where one of my Carthaginian matches took place. I deployed in mid-field. Fedem put his infantry half and half across the two hills in front of me. On the one closest and opposite my right flank he deployed his veteran infantry. On the further hill, opposite my left flank, he deployed is average quality legion infantry. So, in effect he assumed an echeloned deployment. He put his cavalry opposite my far left flank. Since half his infantry was at a distance, I decided to try and concentrate all my infantry against his force on the nearest hill and delay fighting his other forces. So I did an awkward move to my right. I had my legion infantry in the front ranks and veterans in reserve. Fedem saw the clumsy movement and exposed average troops and launched a daring attack onto my legion infantry with his veterans and began advancing his legion infantry. I really thought I was in real trouble. But Fedem's first few rounds of dice were poor, and several of his veterans became disrupted. I was able to feed in my veterans with cavalry and slowly his attack began to disintegrate. My far left never got threatened. Some spear-armed MF and convenient steep hills kept his cav at bay. Fedem's leading wave of legion infantry went disrupted. The biggest threat to emerge was a turning movement by his MF against my far right flank. But the cavalry I put in to support the fight against his veterans freed up in time to meet and counter them. For a long time Fedem and I went neck and neck in breakpoints, but then his veterans just began collapsing. After that I stayed ahead for the win.
Tough game -- well played by Fedem.
