MikeMarchant wrote:Jonathan, I'm 4-1-1 having lost a while back to PeterGuest in our frst battle. I have just taken a look and it doesn't appear as though Peter posted the result at the time. So Peter presumably has an extra victory to be added to his tally, and I have a loss to be added to mine.

Mike is quite right. The result of our 1st match-up was as follows:

PeterGuest's Byzantine defeated MikeMarchant's Lithuanians, 27/46 vs 40/33

Sorry about that - I was distracted by being royally stuffed by eric in the immortal fire finals ...

(PS I'm with the others and think we should carry on with the tournament. Any disappointment at having current games disappear would be more than made up by the arrival of FoG2)

Competitors,

Cothyso has informed me that even if FOG 2.0 comes out this week, games will only be wiped from the server when Slitherine announces and releases it officially. I am not sure how long this will be so we will be continuing the tournament and reassessing after the pool stage. At this point, I'll add a week to the pool stage to account for time lost.

Get to it!

Jon

MikeMarchant's Bulgarians (12/47) beat Grudgebringer's Lithuanians (30/27) in our mirror match.

Grudge was really unlucky, and with a 20 BG disadvanatge it was just too much of a difference to overcome. Lower quality cavalry swarmed his knights and better quality cavarly and they just couldn't cope with the numbers.

Thanks for the game, Grudge, and bad luck.

Best Wishes

Thanks for the games (Eternal Empire isn't Grudge's favourite book)! I think I'm done now with the pool games - next round might be FoG2!

Thanks for the games. In the first game, the Poles decimated the Ottoman mounted wing but couldn't get the last few BPs theyneeded. Meanwhile the Janissaries and other Ottoman foot did in the Polish foot and eventually drew even.

In the second game, the Polish knights scattered all over the map and were picked off in detail by the Ottomans. ON the map with two vallies facing each other with steep hils on one side of each. The Ottomans were able to seize the steep side of the Polish valley which allowed the Janissaries to command much of the map and split the Polish left flank from the rest of the army and alowed it to be defeated in detail.

Thanks for the games.

Note the new deadlines (although I think everyone will be done before that). If your playoff match is set, please wait until everyone has completed the pool stage.

The tiebreaker in Pool A was decided by combining all scores among the 3 players' games amongst themselves (not with Londo). The results were as follows:
Cunningcairn 105/147 = 71.4% losses
ZumHeuriger 140/165 = 84.8% losses
Allendeuce 126/137 = 92.0% losses

Also, my intent is to play all pool stage games on OLD FOG 1.0, and then reassess at end of pool stage to see whether we can play on NEW FOG 2.0.

I think you misassigned two of my losses : I should be 2-0-4 and I don't think Cunningcairn could have played 8 matches against 3 opponents :). Of course that makes it a 3-way tie for 2nd...

Well I asked for a butt whopping and got 3 (4 total)!!!! Teaches you to watch what you ask for!!! :P

Actually he is right...Eternal Empire is my least favorite of all the books...I do think the Cats are cool, but you HAVE to have the terrain!!

I have noticed something though....I like to play lets line up and slug it out. (Swiss, Spartans, especially the Galatians (they must be chewing some good leaves at 9 points) to be Fanatical. But even those seem dumbed down. Anyone else noticed that or am I just going thru the motions and maybe getting bored (been on here a looooong time). I have noticed that numbers are mounting more than quality....maybe everyone (but me) has discovered that, but it really seems the big boys (Alex included) has no hitting power anymore, even against archers and Horse archers. Again maybe I am just playing very badly. Anyone else notice this, or all of you playing the numbers...lol

Good games to all, I enjoyed playing good players and good luck to all!!! :D
