Is it just me or has the search function disappeared?

Odd. It is missing when looking at topics, but is present at the bottom of individual threads. :?

That search box just searches the thread, so far as I can tell.

More has changed on the site. My PM inbox usage percentage also soared without a change in the contents.

If you use Google and just add in

site:http://www.slitherine.com/forum/

to your search string, it will just search within the slitherine forums

We found the server was struggling with the amount of searches being done on the forum now it is so busy. It was causing temporary outages and until we work out a solution we've had to disable it.

I hope it can get sorted and reset. Clearly it was a popular function. Thanks to Tim for an alternative; some of us are utter tech neanderthals.

Yes, within ALL  the slitherine forums. Finding that past post is quite hard now.

Providing only single forum/subforum searches (such as army design, or rules questions) should be less of a load and much more useful - if someone wants to search the whole site, or the world, then google is their friend.

You can narrow it down by typing site:viewforum.php?f=53 to just search the army lists

Change the 53 to:
43 for rules
54 for modelling
47 for AARs

Longwinded yes but better than no search function.

Can this be stickied, or at least the bit of how to put together the text string
phil
putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!
