6mm...

Post by BeansNFranks »

While looking on Scale Creep I saw some 6mm ancients and was wondering if anyone has used them for FoG using the standard basing conventions. If so have you used them against 15mm opponents and how did it go?

I'm considering painting up a few of these due to the overall look and feel. When I saw the pikemen ranked up it just gave the same impression of a real unit of pike.

I have never seen a battle between miniatures from different scales. Scale is the first thing we agree upon on my club before even starting to collect anything. If you want to take a look at those impresive battles with lots of miniatures, take a look here:

If you find yourself being the only one collecting certain range, which has happened to me, I have taken two determinations: whether I collect both armies to play or I just do a diorama. I have realized that sometimes the diorama works for me better than collecting a full army for both sides.

Pretty sure scale is not relevant to the rules if u use the appropriate basing conventions. Was a huge debate on here b4 regarding people bringing 10 mm to a tournament.

The figures would be representative of what I'm fielding, based correctly and painted pimpilicious to a standard much higher than most of the people I have played with. I would just have a crap ton more models on the base which would give a certain feeling of depth and "bigness" 15mm models don't have.

I have used my 6mm against 15mm on several occasions. It was also done under dbx by another. see http://folk.uio.no/arnsteio/DBXin6mm/ There are several photos of his army in the tournament section.
As long as the troops are correct and properly defined you could use any scale that would fit on a 40mm base. Madaxeman uses 25mm figures for inspired generals for his 15mm armies. Even some 15mm armies are not the same size due to differences in height for the various figure manufacturers. In some cases earlier figures from the same manufacturer will be shorter than the later figures.

Great pictures, I love how the pike look with all those models on a base!

I've been using 28mm Outpost figures to be the generals for my 15mm Black Hat Aztec army. They stand out nicely and I've had no complaints. It also helps with the problem you get wioththe more clourful armies that it can be difficult to distinguish the generals if all are the same scale. At 28mm there's no mistaking Lord Corduroy Burping Frog Trousers, Snake Woman, Bloodletter and The Master of the House of Darts!
