Crazyg VS Thommo(no Thommo please)
Hi people
This is probably my last AAr in the 1.07 verson of GS and i am facing Thommo from Hungary. Experienced player with about 30 PBEM plays, wow that is a grand figure....so i have to do my best in order to give him a fight.
1 Turn:
We have played 2 turns so far and there are no surprizes yet. First turn attacking Poland, attacks pretty much went as supected, 2 tanks spearhead towards warzaw after one tac bombing run resulted in 1 step loss. First tank managed to knock down 6 STEPS on polish INF, witch means that there where only 3 steps left. Second tank moved in and had 5:0 odds but to my detriment the tank knocked down only 1 step....ha ha ha came so close to taking Poland in one turn, would have been nice.
Anyway first turn i railed one tank and a mech over to the west front facing Holland. One tac and a fighter acompanied the army west together with Von Rundsted.
2 Turn:
Attack on Warsaw was complete, Poland surrenders and war declare on Holland, the defenses easily swepted away and Kriegsmarine together with a German Mech supported by one tac attacks Hague. Left the defender 3 steps, German subs screen Graf Spee to protect it against attacks from french fleet. One tank and a corps railed to the west front along with the remainder of Luftwaffe.
Strategy will follow

Attack on Holland, i wasn´t able to get an after shot. But Holland surrendered this turn and the French BB attacked by luftwaffe submarine. It is now on the bottom of the sea. Since there probably was a sub lurking where the red X is marked, it most likely bounced of my subs trying to attack Graf Spee....i decided to go for newly captured Hague port. The other sub went for repairs in Wilhelmshafen. Railed over one more tank and INF to the west front near maginotline, as you can see he already evacuated a part of the line.
Everything should be ready for attack on Belgium next turn and with fair weather i should be able to capture Brussels in one turn and continue further south into France. The best part is that after INF science bought this turn i had 28PPs left, if i calculate correctly i will earn 72PPs next turn so i can buy a fighter for 100PPs, perfect, one turn ahead of schedule.
It shall be interesting to see his commitment to France, french fighter already badly damaged and i probably won´t see it during the battle. Aslo if he will support with brittish troops in France or not. My future tactics will depend on how he plays it out.

Nice weather turn so Belgium attacked and captured, german forces continue down south towards the French lines. This is probably the last fair weather turn i have this year. But anyway i got a good start on the French campaign. I missed PP calculation by one, so i had 101 PP to my favor, so fighter built this turn and submarine repaired in Wilhelmshafen.
Messerschmitt 109 ordered and should be ready in 60 days time

That I can't really answer, in my one and only Sealion so far, (which just happens to be against Thommo because he committed a very large BEF to France), it is only July 1941 and my Barbarossa is about to kick off. It's going to be months before I find out if it was a worthwhile operation.richardsd wrote:Well, to be fair I have Sealioned Thommo in 1.07
Sealion is much easier in GS 2.0 (I think) but the question still remains the same - is it worth it!

There are a couple of obvious advantages, you prevent bombings of germany until late in the game and perhaps not even then. Combined with attacks in Africa the middle east could easily fall into your hands since brittish economy will take a heavy blow.richardsd wrote:Well, to be fair I have Sealioned Thommo in 1.07

Downside ofcourse is that you spend valuable resources and PPs, almost always leads to a late Barbarossa.
In my game against Joerock it is worth it, even if he will be able to capture England in 43 i have prevented a landing in France or against Italy, so he won´t be able to do anything until 44 on the mainland.

Heavy blow to the german Panzers, one step 10 tank destroyed. Some good things came out of it, he had to abandon Reims for the third attack against my tank. That meant Reims was easily captured, also french tank destroyed and brittish INF with Auchinleck out for 7 turns. Could be usefull if i attempt operation Sealion, he has to either manage without a commander or by a new one. Think bying a new one will be difficult since RAF is badly damaged and RN CV took 3 steps damage this turn from my sub. Costly repairs.....
Graf Spee just before engaging RN, her 6 high velocity 28cm guns proved to be effective against the brittish cruisers
German Sturmgeshutz in the outskirts of Reims

So far i have laid my strategy pretty basic, i can adapt to any situation that rises. If operation Sealion, that looks tempting now since his RAF is heavily damaged and he keeps commiting troops and the RN....so for now the plan is to cause him as much damage as possible untill the fall of France. I will then decide what to do.
Whatever i do, i plan to expand the Kriegsmarine with a couple of subs to maintain pressure in the atlantic. I plan to not let through any convoys until end of 42 atleast. Also i am pretty keen on freing up the italian navy so they will have access to the atlantic. How that fleet will look and if it means invading Spain or egypt depends on the what Thommo does to counter....But all operations have to be swift and powerfull so i don´t gett bogged down in struggles before Barbarossa

Before my turn, french fleet still a problem. I see that Thommo chose to repair his brittish Mech inf in France, good some more PPs lost. He won´t escape.
Attacks took out french fighter, 1 GAR, french sub and 1 inf. Next turn Paris will be encircled. Third bomber placed to take part in the final stages of the French campaign. I see that the britts are ocpupying the the french ports as usual....
