We need your feedback!
Thanks for particpating in the beta - we really appreciate you sparing some time to play the game and give us your feedback.
The main purpose of the beta is to balance the campaigns and check for playability and bugs. If you spot anything unusual or anything you think could be improved let us know.
As usual we'd really like to know your first impressions of the new campaigns.
After you have had some time to play through we'd also like to get some more detailed feedback.
* How hard did you find the scenarios? Too easy, too hard or just right?
* Were your scenario objectives clear enough - we're there any areas that were confusing or needed mroe explanation?
* How far in to the game did you get? Did you play the '39 campaign, '40 campaign, both of bits of both.
* When posting any gameplay feedback let us know the difficulty setting you were using.
* Did you feel like you had enough presitge, too little or too much?
* Did you enjoy the scenario briefings? Is there anything they could have explained better or done differently to improve the atmosphere?
* Did you like the "special scenario objectives" mixed in with the standard victory hex grabbing missions, or do you prefer purely just going after victory hexes?
* Did the AI perform well in the missions? Were there any scenarios that the AI underperformed
* Hero and medal aquisition have been slowed down for the extended campaign. Did the progression feel right?
* Do you find the experience cap on units annoying?
* Capturing enemy equipment is a new feature of DLC 1940 (it has not been implemented in DLC 1939). Can you let us know your thoughts on it.
* Do you have a favourite mission and if so what is it you like about it. Similarly are there any missions you didn't enjoy and why.

That's a shame, I was kinda missing a lot of early war vehicles - not so much German and French, but I think the Poles could really use some more units. They are EXTREMELY basic - two vehicles, three guns, two planes... that's it? I do think that for 5 $ this is quite some value anyway, but on the other hand imho a DLC dedicated specifically to the Polish campaign should have some dedicated Polish units. Alright, they weren't a match for the German army, but they did have some potent stuff

wanna say thx first of all to be a part of the dlc beta team! played the first 3 scenarios of the 39 GC and think they are really well made! Had no probs as far as bugs or so go! I found the scenarios challenging on colonel level and got a DV on all 3, though it was close, which is how it should be! A little more prestige would be nice maybe as I like to be able to overstrength and upgrade my units as much as possible, but who doesn't? I really like this game and can't get enough of it! Great job guys!

so far I am into Warsaw 39, great addition to the game. I am glad you mentioned about the experience cap, was wondering why the Luftwaffe that has been killing so much seems to be stuck at 2 stars. The AT gun you start with almost made it to Warsaw, but it sold its life at Bzerka river game. It as also about the only time is saw much use, other than grabbing victory hexes. I really do enjoy the whole guard these hexes from the Poles in that scenario, them getting first move was a real surprise but I loved playing it. One thin I have noticed though is that it the AI likes to abandon vicotry hexes to run out 1 or 2 hexes to attack an opel, thus allowing my recon units or tanks to sweep into the objective through the back door, easy influence thats for sure. I will be moving on to 1940 after I finish off Poland, great looking game so far, and very addictive. Warsaw is quiet the battle now, and as I found out keep the Panzers out of those city hexes!!!
Thanks for a great job on this expansion and I look forward to seeing more of them.

just finished downloading the Grand Campaign beta. Just had a quick look and it's what i was hoping for and more. Just had a quick try of the first Scenario in the 1940 campaign. Is there any reason why some of the pill boxes and guns start with no ammo? baring in mind the German units are next to them, it's like starting with a few free shots.
thanks for allowing me to test these scenarios. WIll have a proper look tomorrow, just have time for a quick look tonight

Thank you for letting me be part of this team testing the beta. I started playing Campaign '39 last night on the default setting (colonel?). It seemed like in the first few turns of the first scenario I could not purchase infantry, tank or recon units, even though I had 4 core slots. Also, it seemed like prestige value was changing, but not correctly, and sometimes would even increase. I did feel that there s/b more prestige and a few more core units available for purchase. There are a lot of victory hexes to capture in 14 turns, even though most of the Polish troops in the majority of them were pushovers. I did get a loss, but will try again on the next easiest level (lieutenant?).
mrgolf:
Hmm, that is very strange. You should be able to purchase and place 4 new core units at the start of DLC 1939 campaign.
Are you making sure to place your new purchases on valid hexes? That is, near cities you have owned for at least one turn?
I made a video showing the process exactly. Are you unable to repeat this process as seen below? If so, this sound like a serious bug.

Maps city ID
In fighting through Poland even though you can mouseover and get a city name, I thing a map providing an overview with city and other objective names would be helpful in my strategic planning.

I didn't have any problems on the retry on lieutenant level. I think it was just me. Don't consider it a bug. I think I'm the bug! Anyway, replaying Campaign '39 on the lieutenant level, I did manage to get a marginal victory, but considering I got decisive victories on the next 2 scenarios, either scenario 1 and 2 s/b switched, or scenario 1 s/b made easier, IMHO. Too many objectives to take in too few turns to get a decisive victory for an opening scenario.

Interestingly enough, Poznan design is 100% intentional. If you get a decisive victory in Poznan, the first scenario, the following mission actually becomes harder (Danzig South). A marginal victory, however leads to an easier alternative (Danzig North). So don't feel bad that you got a minor victory followed by a decisive victory, this is absolutely the intention, and will be so through-out DLCs to come.mrgolf wrote:Kerensky-

That is, players who achieve minor victories are not penalized (they still continue on relatively the same path) but players who achieve major victories are subject to harder content. Think of Poznan as our way of measuring the player. How well did you do, you completely destroyed the content? Fine, here's something harder for you. Did you manage to complete it, but not decisively so? Okay, we can accommodate you, we won't crush you with a hard scenario, but give you an easier alternative (giving you more time to learn and increase the strength of your core) before you return to the main 'track'.

I love the first DLC. Currently I am playing the 1940 campaign.
I started this campaign with the easiest setting, and I am still hitting my head against a brick wall. The AI is really aggressive and it is forcing me to plan ahead, rather than having units race around the map. I like the objective hexes, this adds a lot of purpose to the game.
So far I have not had any captured equipment.
My next post will be much more detailed, at the moment I need to get back to work-that is, pushing back the British and French.
