Scottish League 2014

Post by AlanCutner »

The Scottish League enters its 4th year in 2014. Each year we have been able to add a new host and venue to the schedule, and 2014 is no exception with Falkirk club hosting. There are some changes to the format of the competition with the number of FoG-R rounds increasing to two, and some tighter themes for both FoG-AM and FoG-R.

The provisional schedule is
15th Feb Perth FoG-R Early Period
17th May Elgin FoG-AM Open
29th June Falkirk FoG-R Late Period
13th Sept Harburn FoG-AM Classical
12th Oct Glasgow FoG-AM Dark Ages

Competition dates will be confirmed shortly.
Confirmed date ranges for themes will be announced shortly.
FoG-AM periods will be varied each year so that all periods will be played on rotation.

Team entries of up to three competitors will be accepted, competing for the overall team competition. Note that no individual may compete as a member of more than one team during the year. The individual overall title will be decided on the best three results. The team title will be the total of the best four team results.

Where possible team members will not be drawn against each other, members of the same club will not be drawn against each other in the first game of each round, and for the first game in each round players will not be be drawn against anyone they've played in a previous Scottish League 2014 event. Family members will not be drawn against each other in any round.

Competition details are

· Each round will consist of three games, each lasting a maximum of 2hrs 20min, plus a random 0-10 minutes.
· Maximum army size is 650pts.
· Table size is 5'x3'.
· Scoring is the usual 0-25 system.
· Play will stop at the end of the current phase being played.
· Amended terrain rules will be used -
o Each player's choice is reduced to 2 or 3 optional pieces
o No piece can be bigger than 9MU in any direction
o No double size pieces may be used
o No terrain piece can be placed (prior to adjustment) closer than 3MU's to any other piece except as listed in the rules on page 140
o If a 5 or 6 is rolled for placing a terrain piece, the distance from the appropriate edge is reduced to 6MU rather than 8MU
· FoG-AM deployment is at 10MU and 12MU inches rather than the usual 12MU and 15MU. FoG-R deployment distances will be announced shortly.

Anyone who knows how - can this be moved to a more appropriate section (announcements?)

And please remember to send/post the FoGR results so they can count for the BHGS rankings - probably for the final time.

Hi Folks
The first round of the 2014 Scottish League kicks of on Saturday with FOG R in Perth, Scotland. We have ten hardy devotees lined up to contest the crown - a decent show for FOG R North of the wall.

Hunter Hope, Perth
John Munro, Perth
Jim Copeland, Perth
Hugh Cameron, Glasgow
John Muir, Glasgow
George Dick, Glasgow
Mike Kemp, Elgin
Gary Lind, Falkirk
Mark Taylor, West Lothian
Rob Pooley, West Lothian

Stay tuned for runners 'n' riders for this early renaissance basho sans musket and impact pistol.

Following a close fought contest, the results of the first round of the Scottish FOGR early competition of three games were as follows:

1st John Munro Perth - Later Imperial Austrian 54.1 points
2nd John Muir Glasgow - Scottish. 52.3 points
3rd Hugh Cameron Glasgow - Huguenot. 44.7 point
4th Gary Lind. Falkirk - Later Imperial Austrian. 41.0 points
5th Jim Copeland Perth - 80 Years War Dutch. 39.7 points
6th George Dick. Glasgow - French Italian Wars. 36.2 points
7th Hunter Hope. Perth - Hungarian. 34.2 points
8th Mike Kemp Elgin. - Early Ottoman Turk. 28.7 points

A good beginning for Glasgow in the 2014 Scottish League but still plenty to play for as Perth begin their title defence.

Well done John. You are a much better scorer geezer than that previous incompetent encumbent. Another great day out with nary a cross word spoken. Schiltron is next on the Scots wargaming calendar, 29-30 March in Glasgow. One of the best bashos in the business folks ......
