AAR: Let's Play starting with Black Turn DLC

I would like to present my new Let's Play series for Unity of Command. It is a blind playthrough focusing on learning and explaining the game as we progress.

Decive victories can be expected, but definitely not brilliant all the time. I like to play and present the game using general tactical and strategic approaches without dependeny on luck and planning ahead every move multiple turns.

Next up is the starting mission for Army Group North. We have to cover vast distances in the Baltic, so we are struggling with and learning about speed and supply.

So despite a mad dash into enemy territory, the tanks seem always just one hex too slow!

Army Group South completes our opening of Operation Barbarossa. We have strong armored forces to our disposal and supply lines seem secure.

However there are scores of Russian tanks in our way and the question is - can we get our first brilliant victory?

We are attacking Estonia with Army Group North. This is an infantry only Battle where all depends on whether our Pioniers can break the heavily fortified cities.

We are attacking Leningrad with Army Group North.

We manage a brilliant Victory, but it´s an epic fail nevertheless. Looking for the mysteriously disappearing reinforcement and finally finding them... for a price

So where the hack is my StuG?!

We are attacking Smolensk with Army Group Center. This time everything works out as planned and despite some minor errors our forces are able to take every victory location on time!

Army Group South is tasked with collapsing the Uman Pocket. And as always speed is of the essence. So we are rushing our infantry divisions into a solid defensive line and hope our few tanks can outflank them. It all depends on them to secure the vital supply line no later than the second turn.

Army Group South is ordered to advance towards the Crimea. In our way is the Dnieper, a destroyed bridge and the fact that we have no tanks and a lot of Rumanian units on our side of the river.

We have a good start and the Rumanian infantry is able to establish bridge heads on the eastern river bank. Only to get wiped out completely in the counter attack. At least we could use the time to repait the bridge...

The Russians in and around Kiev are very well entrenched and our first attampt to break through the lines fails miserably. But Army Group Center and South cooperate in this mission and a lot of reinforcements arrive at the right time and give tons of equipment to our disposal. Tanks and elite infantry - we have it all!

Nevertheless without cutting the supply lines early there is no chance for a brilliant victory or victoy at all...

This is an interesting scenario with cutting of supply lines, head on storming across the Don River and an armored spearhead in the center. Unity of Command at its best!

Bur off course I almost block myself again at the last moment

Luckily there always seems to be an unlikely unit that can reach the target nevertheless!

Army Group Center is ready to take on Moscow itself. This scenario is by far the biggest and therefore we will have to do multiple breakthrough and encirclement maneuvers. Looks intimitating, but if you follow the tips and tricks I provide in the video, a brilliant victory is quite easy. I did not figure them out all by myself, but for this mission it really helps to do some research!

We are cutting the South completely off from supply and led by our panzer divisions we close in on Moscow and encircle the city. Everything goes according to plan and finally Moscow is ours!

This is a very intense and interesting mission, where you fight for territory by fighting for vital supply lines. Hope you enjoy this one, I certainly did!

Unfortunately some intrige in HQ leaves us with negative prestige. Oh well...

Final mission for Black Turn and a very interesting scenario with very many options. This time it is not about cutting the Russians of from supply but to simply hold the line and keep the few offensive units in supply.
I very much enjoyed the campaign and hope you did, too! See you at Stalingrad...
