Axis France-Vichy strategy

Post by makiskrassas »

As an Axis player is it a good strategy to accept France armistice and in 1-2 turns attack Vichy France and conquer all France?

I have seen a couple strategies with this. I am not sure how the scripts or situations have changed since the latest patches although it seemed it depended on the situation what the Axis should do with Vichy and what you're willing to risk :!: (P.S. and overextended Allied Player may give you strategic options and make any such strategy lucrative, aside being predictable is always bad)

I would try a Vichy Back Stab in Hotseat a few times. I would just play out a Denial of the surrender and all out take down of France in real time and see how the game develops and enjoy it.

Thanks, the second question is if I do the above and capture Casablanca, Oran, Algiers,
Tunis before USA enters war, will Spain join the Axis?

Are you sure?

In the manual, it is explicitely written Spain will join Axis if French armistice offer is rejected ... and so on.

OK. No, I'm not sure  . Not that I believe the manual. Perhaps someone could hotseat it.

Hotseat, that question  It's always better to be absolutely sure the new versions haven't changed an item or two. I do believe the capture of N.Africa Key Cities does the job... I think

Hotseat done. If the Armistice is accepted, then there is no option to activate Spain by a subsequent Axis DOW against Vichy and conquest of French North Africa. The Armistice must be rejected to give a chance at activating Spain as an Axis ally.

Ah. Thank you. So the answer to the original question is "no".
