Pool B

MikeMarchant's Spartans (38/50) beat RexHurley's Colonial Greeks (67/65)

Another tough slugfest with dead Greeks littering the battlefield, a battle that relied as much on the centre as the flanks and where the Spartans' superios morale held out.

Best Wishes

Mike

Pool A

NZsam03 (Macedonian) 36/44 beat Lydianed (28th - 30th Dynasty Egyptian) 59/57

The Egyptians far out maneuvered the Macedonians, but the pike were too strong for the Egyptian and mercenary spear-men.

Pool A

Lydianed (Macedonians) 39/44 vs NZSam03 (Egyptians) 54/54

After racing into a lead the Macedonians got pegged back by the Egyptians. Ended rather closer than the early rounds would have suggested. Well played Sam.

Playing Skythians in Pete's worst army competition a couple years ago helped a lot for this. Thanks for two good games.

Pool A
Yuknoom's Persians 29/38 defeat tullius' Greeks 60/59

A sadly silly battle to presumably determine whether Sam or I move on.
Having seen how the Hoplites murder Persian foot in the mirror game. I went for an all cavalry force. Strangely, my opponent chose a battlefield dominated by two huge steep hills - so I actually would have done well with an army of crappy Persian foot.
So I rode around in circles a lot, trying to pick off the odd hoplite who was facing the wrong way. Oddly, this dopey strategy actually worked, and in only 18 turns…….
Thanks to tullius for being a good sport during this nonsense, which was best described as…. 'interesting'.

One more week left! Please begin to update me for remaining games.

It should be an interesting last week. In Pool A, NZsam03 can steal the last playoff spot from Yuknoom with a win. In Pool B, Rexhurley holds down the last playoff spot but PeterAbb and Ricoual74 are still in the running. In Pool D, it is pretty much an open race with Voskarp and Mcpaeke in the lead but Batesmotel still has 6 games left.

I don't believe that NZSam03 has reported his win over me from last week. (Why do I keep having to record my shameful defeats? :| )
However I think there is an error on the score board -
I believe he currently stands at 13 pts rather than the 17 listed.
After this last result for both of us I would be at 6-4, he would be at 5-1-4.

Whoops! Thanks for the correction/update. I guess I mixed up my own points system with the DL points system for that one.
