A new event at the Oxford Club - 6/7 June 2015
All,
we have got the weekend of 6/7 June booked at the Oxford Wargames Club hall for a FOGR/FOGAM event and have in mind a 25mm weekend.
Idea is to make it completely open covering the full set of armies for both rules so as to give as many people as possible chance to field an army. the rules used would be FOGR and the only limit would be no chariots allowed. It would be necessary for people using FOGAM armies to interpret troop categories appropriately but this does not seem problematic and can be at the discretion of the list checker to approve. I guess we would go for 650 points with a view to getting 4 games in at a relaxed pace.
Any thoughts? Any interest?
Looking forward to comments.

I am interested but will need to borrow figures or use 60mm sabot bases with 15mm figures if that would be acceptable (I assume not).
Cheers

Nigel,
you are on the list; as are you Stephen. Apart from Nigel's kind offer we have a range of suitable club armies that we can lend - so do not be put off!

Dear all,
Ben and I had a run through last night between TYW French and Late Republican Roman. Ben won of course but more to the point we noted no severe glitches in the plan to have FOGAM/R games to R rules.
There are a few wrinkles which I list below as special rules for the competition (comments welcome!!):-
FOGR heavy lance to be used for gens d'armes equivalents - say from 1400 onwards
FOGR keils apply to AM pike blocks from the introduction of Pikes into the Swiss armies
FOGAM impact foot who use heavy throwing weapon (legions, Spanish) will take the points of impact foot plus bayonet/swordsmen but count as having light spear versus mounted and straight impact foot versus foot
Undrilled AM HF/MF will count as warrior
Slingers will count as bows with long range limited to 4 MUs
Compulsory fortified camps need not be bought
AM artillery counts as poor
AM type "protected" and "unprotected" both count as unarmoured
AM spear armed mounted will count as light lance
Terrain and deployment:
use 15mm terrain, 1 compulsory plus 1 to 3 optional
AM developed counts as agricultural
deploy and flank sections 15mm distances and baggae shall be full width but half depth (tables will be 4' by 6'
I think that was all. For now anyway
I have copied this to the AM area.

Does it matter if you've never played FoG:AM before (and possibly have never actually watched it being played)?

I certainly do not think it a necessity to have played FOGAM. I think I would say this in any case but at this comp we shall be using FOGR rules and fitting AM troop types into FOGR types. (Hence no chariots allowed)

Steve, you'll be pleased to know your figues are all sorted out. Assuming I don't have a major memory lapse I should have them with me at Campaign (MKWS).

If there are still places left can I have one please.

Re: A new event at the Oxford Club - 6/7 June 2015
Dear all,
This is to confirm that the Oxford FOGAMR 25mm event will take place as planned on 6 and 7 June. Usual venue in Wolvercote
Grateful for re confirmation from everyone who plans to attend and an army list as soon as possible please.
Rules:-
25mm figs of any AM or R type but no chariots allowed
Lists of 700 points
6' x 4' tables
Please bring 15mm terrain
Deployment will be to 25mm MUs rules except that the flank sectors will be 12"
Special army list and playing rules as set out in my earlier posting
Games start at 09:00 both days and we shall play two games each day.
Cost will be £10 for the two days with tea, coffee and biscuits an additional £1 per day.
Ben will be there so I am sure he will be happy to umpire if necessary.
I am sure that I have forgotten key things so do not be shy in letting me know.

Tom
A couple of quick queries/clarifications
1] Do you mean 40mm = 1MU (ie 25mm Figure Rules) for everything except the flank deployment zones which will be 12" (as per 15mm figure rules)?
2] Have you definitely changed to 700pts from 650pts. I only ask because the 650pt army I borrowed was delivered to me on Sunday at Campaign and I will have to find an extra 50pts from somewhere!
Really looking forward to it
Stephen

Re: A new event at the Oxford Club - 6/7 June 2015
Stephen,
On Q1 - yes, I mean that 1 MU will be as the 25mm rules say
On Q2 - change to 700 was advised by Ben and Bob as likely to give good games on the table size and suitable for a 3 hour game. But it is not end of the world and will be happy to return to 650 if there is an outcry from others. So, all, please let me know - say by Sunday - whether we should play to 650 or 700 points.
We have lots of spare 25 mm at our club so am sure we can find 50 points unless your need is very esoteric. What army are you using?

Re: A new event at the Oxford Club - 6/7 June 2015
well I have decided on my army... especially as we now have 700pts to play with... which means my poor old Jacobites are available to be borrowed... they got 4th at roll call in the hands of clan leader McKevinJ
If you want the LF option you'll need to talk nicely to the oxford club members... I have 3 generals, 4x bases of cav, the irish pike/shot unit and bucket load of warriors...

Richard,
certainly - count yourself in.
I shall be checking on numbers again after our club meets tomorrow and will post the position but am certain we have room for a few more as yet.
