When I start it, I get the game launcher. Here I push the Play Game button, there is a small wait animation on my mouse cursor, but then nothing happens.
I started digging around and found a output_log.txt logfile in the StarHammerVP_Data folder.

I tried to run both Steam and the game as administrator, but it doesn't change.
I run Steam on a Windows 8 VMWare image (as you can see in the logs). Many other games run fine in this VM. Sometimes I need to dial down the graphics, but that's ok.
