Game Freezes

Bought off steam a while ago, just installed it, everything goes fine, I hit new game, go through the game options, hit start. The intro text with diablogue starts playing and the game freezes. Graphics drivers are up to date, I believe most of the other drivers are as well. Created an exception in AVG, deleted/reinstalled. Ran as admin. Tried to update the game but I cant find any link other than a link to 1.2(which requires a CD key that doesnt come with the steam release.). This game is a mess. If I had the option of a refund I would gladly go that route.

The update you have downloaded is only for the non-Steam version.
If you have the Steam version than you can only update through the Steam program.
By default, the Steam program is configured to automatically update the game.
If this isn't your case please check the guide below on how to update your Steam game:

Could you please post your Pandora.log file?

The log file written by the game is located in:
Windows Vista/7/8:
“C:\Users\<YOUR_USERNAME_ACCOUNT>\AppData\Roaming\Proxy Studios\Pandora\Logs”
Windows XP:
“C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR_USERNAME_ACCOUNT>\Application Data\Proxy Studios\Pandora\Logs”
Please note that depending on how you Windows is configured, these folders might be hidden.

I couldnt find any info as far as what version of the game was running, steam is set to auto update, but i figured looking into a patch couldnt hurt anything, thats why I looked that route.

Have you created the AVG-exception for both "Pandora.exe" and "PandoraServer.exe"?

It clearly looks like the same problem that the people with "AVAST" had.
It prevents Pandora.exe to communicate with PandoraServer.exe and vice versa.
And that's exactly what your log-file also says.
