All I'm getting is a lovely blue screen and dramatic music. Anyone else getting this?

Does this company really think that, to a new player who just paid to buy FoG, this message is going to mean anything?

I'm sorry it doesn't work for you. I've retested it in my development laptop (nothing fancy, a Win 8.1 x64 with an i3 330M and a 5470 AMD Radeon Mobility), and it works perfectly fine. It also seems to run fine for other users too. You seem to be the only one until now having problems with it.

Please delete both output_log.txt and console_log.txt files. Start the application, enter and play a game, then exit the application. Get both files and attach them in here. Thank you.

I do not know what a company thinks (does a company really think?!!), but until the FoG(U)' launch is officially announced and until FoG(U) is officially released, which are both not yet, I could give you just the news and more waiting time, or give you the news and the release build in beta form. Now, which one would you really prefer? Thought so! :)

Dan, it was my anti-virus that was causing the problem. I re-loaded the game and a pop-up came up that I hadn't noticed before. So I turned off the anti-virus and it then loaded fine. Thanks. :D

You really do have to understand the difference between communications from Slitherine and communications from Dan (cothyso). Dan is continuing to work very hard on the game and periodically provides us with the latest version of his efforts. So the first thing we should be saying to him is "thank you". He really cannot be held responsible for the communications issued by Slitherine (or lack of them at the moment).

Ok, you can say that.
But I am playing with a few new people here who are understandably wondering what is going on. Few 400 pt challenges, little organized play, they are largely playing AI.
Would it be that hard for Dan to give a couple of sentences of explanation of what this is about, especially being that it has been several months since there was any sort of discussion? This may make sense to people who have been here for a year and a half or more, but not to a lot of newer, ( and many older) players.

But it is not up to Dan to make statements on behalf of Slitherine; Dan is part of Newrosoft, a completely separate company. As far as I know Iain (McNeil) is still in charge of development at Slitherine and he is the person you should be talking to. I have always found him very approachable so why not drop him a line and ask him what is happening now.

Hi guys,

we're just waiting for bugs to be regressed and check no new bugs have been introduced before we can pass it to production to build the Gold Master. This has been the state of the project for around 12 months or more and we're reluctant to say anything until we are sure as all the estimates to completion up to now have been hopelessly wrong. At this point we're not planning to announce anything until we have an approved GM in our possession and are 100% sure when it will release. It might be soon or if more issues are found it could be a lot longer. We really don't know at this point and so are making no time estimates.

Just to keep you updated there are a number of multiplayer issues that are being resolved before we progress. We hope it wont be long now.

Hello guys,

No news yet, we're still waiting for the launch build's final approval. Most of the Slitherine staff were out of the office for the Home of the Wargamers event last week, so they must be pretty busy this week too. We'll have to see what the next weeks is bringing us..

Cheers,
dan

A question.

Does every incremental release trigger a full round of Slithering testing?

Dan,

Did the launch build get approval in the end? Are they building the new game or have they knocked it back to you again? Thanks.
