Victorian Napoleonic Champs in Melbourne 16 & 17 July 2016
The 3rd Victorian Napoleonic Championships will beheld in Melbourne on 16 & 17 July 2016.
The tournament is hosted by the League of Ancients at Club Tivoli, 291 Dandeong Road, Windsor, Victoria.
The tournament is scenario based with pre-set terrain. We will be using the FOG N rules and army lists. The scale is 15mm. and armies are 800 points. There are loan armies available. We will have trade stands on the Sunday.
Please submit lists to Richard Gordon at richard.gordon@simplot.com.au by 8 July 2016.
The entrance fee is $30 ($15 for one day). Games will start at 9.30am on both days and be approx. 3.5hrs per round.
As in previous years we are expecting over 20 players so it should be a great event.

My list is with Richard for vetting . . . see you all in 3 weeks time !!!
Re: Victorian Napoleonic Champs in Melbourne 16 & 17 July 20
Just sent mine in as well. Hopefully I can avenge myself against you Keith
Re: Victorian Napoleonic Champs in Melbourne 16 & 17 July 20
Geoff, you'll really have to play a WHOLE LOT worse than you did in Brisbane last year to even get a game against me !! I have played the sum-total of just 6 games since then so will be much worse than "rusty". Plus, the combination I am using in Melbourne will see a table top for the very first time when I deploy them in the first-up game. So . . . if'n you want to gain some revenge, you're going to have to 'throw' a couple of games to get down into the bottom half of the table with me . . .

Unfortunately I shall be in the Czech Republic. I'll be doing my own Austerlitz scenario on a bike around the battlefield!
Wishing everyone a great time and I'll see you next year.

The 1812 Russian Infantry are all boxed up and all ready to fly across "the ditch" ... 10 days to go !!!

Wow . . . a quiet event looms ! Just Geoff, Marty, Philip and me prepared to comment, eh ?!
Next thing you know, Iceland will progress in the European Cup by knocking out England . . . or did that happen already ??

Re: Victorian Napoleonic Champs in Melbourne 16 & 17 July 20
Another excellent turnout for this years’ event, though with a few regulars away overseas or unavoidably engaged. We have 19 players, including 6 from New Zealand and 3 from Sydney, so almost half are “out-of’towners”. Hopefully the Melbourne crew can return the favour at the FOG N tournament in Sydney in November and/or the various NZ tournaments next year.
As always a mixed bag of armies and a good split between Reformed and Unreformed armies, with Reformed taking honours 10 vs 9.
Armies and players as follows:
1. Alastair (NZ) 1812 French Infantry Corps
2. Kit (NZ) 1815 Anglo-Netherlands
3. Brett (NZ) 1809 Tyrolean
4. Philip (NZ) 1815 Anglo-Netherlands
5. Keith (NZ) 1812 Russian
6. Mike (NZ) 1814 French
7. Geoff (NSW) 1815 Anglo-Netherlands
8. Martin (NSW) 1809 Austrian
9. Paul (NSW) 1805 French
10. Michael G (LOA) 1812 French
11. Alex (LOA) 1812 French
12. Richard S (LOA) 1812 Westphalian
13. Tyler (LOA) 1813 Prussian (Spring)
14. Neil (LOA) 1809 Austrian
15. Mick (LOA) 1813 Austrian Reserve Corps
16. Steve G (LOA) 1809 Saxon
17. Django (LOA) 1814 Prussian (Sun only)
18. Dave (LOA) 1813 Russian
19. Steve K (LOA) 1813 Russian (Sat only)
So 5 French, 3 Russian, 3 Anglo types, 3 Austrian, 4 others.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the weekend. Start time 9.30 on both days. Anyone who can help with terrain set up on Friday night, please let me know.

A brilliant event ... as always !! Great games in a good environment against opponents who are pleasure to play; the perfect toy soldier event !
The Melbourne crew were very welcoming and make the trip worthwhile every time.
But the biggest of thanks go to Richard for his stunning organisation and the time, energy and effort he puts into putting this event together each year.
THANK YOU !!

Re: Victorian Napoleonic Champs in Melbourne 16 & 17 July 20
Well the guns have fallen silent and the smoke has cleared. All that remains is to tend to the wounded, bury the dead and count the cost. And what a cost it was:
Sportsmanship Award: Geoff
1st Alex 84 points
2nd Martin 76
3rd Keith 68
4th Dave 65
5th Michael Grey 63
6th Paul 54
7th Philip 54
8th Alastair 52
9th Richard S 51
10th Kit 51 (on tie-break)
The rest shall remain nameless and faceless, buried in a collective grave marked the "Unkown Soldiers".
Thanks to everyone for attending and making it another great event. Geoff won the Sportsmanship Award but there wasn't a single player who didn't deserve it, with the whole event played in a great spirit despite the occasional different rule interpretations from different countries. So well done all!
Next year will have at least 6 new scenarios so book your tickets now and we'll see you then (if not sooner in Sydney in October or one of the many NZ tournaments in 2017).
Cheers
Richard
