AAR: Supermax VS Vokt (No Vokt pls) Version 4.0
Hello to all
I have been away from this great game for at leat over a year and have been recently wanting to get back in. I have been very active in the past with many AAR, and quite a few epic games were related there!
Anyway Stauffenberg was kind enough to give me access to the beta-testing version 4.0 in order for me to test the new version.
I also decided to make an AAR of the action since it might be interesting to everyone to see whats happening. I wont be posting all turns in the first turns before the french campaign, the action is too boging.
So here is the first turn

Great to see a 4.0 AAR ! I've never played or seen 4.0 , I know it's a lot of work to do an AAR so a big thanks Max!
I've never played Vokt, but I love reading the AAR's, so I've read all Vokt's AAR's. He seems like a conservative player, and I think it would be madness to try a Sealion against such a conservative player.
I'll be rooting for you!
Storming the Magiont Line still seems like lunacy to me, but I like the out of the box thinking, Good Luck!

Hey man thanks for the good word! The Maginot line storming is as much as a diversion as a nice way to gain experience for the groud troops. 3 of my corps are now nearing 25 experience. Also makes the french players put a lot of troops in the south which are then easily turned when you hook north. If he doesnt put tropps south, then you attack from there. Kinda give you 2 options instead of traditionnal frontal assault stuff.Carlos_Danger wrote:Great to see a 4.0 AAR ! Nice to see the AAR up and running.
I wonder why you didn't have the new terrain graphics for the second image. E. g. the fortified capitals have a hexagonal image instead of a round image. The red circles with numbers in indicates leaders and the number is the command range. It makes it easier to place commanders and ensure you cover the important front sections. Leaders now come for free in a particular game year, but can be purchased ahead of time. E. g. Guderian arrives for free in 1941.

About your devious plan for the aircraft carrier!
Aircraft Carriers have always received defensive bonus when in port, but because of that, (I once saw in a 4.0 change update) , they were talking about reducing the intercept range of carriers in port to one hex.
I'm not on the 4.0 team, but you should ask someone who is on the 4.0 team about the intercept range of carriers in port.
Looking forward to seeing the Graf Zeppelin in action!

Yes,
CV attack and intercept range is reduced to one hex while in port. At Sea the intercept range for CV's is one third (1/3) of attack range.
CV's are more powerful while attacking naval surface ships. They start at 5 and will gain 4 more through tech advances for a total of 9.

Re: AAR: Supermax VS Vokt (No Vokt pls) Version 4.0
it looks you want to try to land in USA ?
Re: AAR: Supermax VS Vokt (No Vokt pls) Version 4.0
interesting that 1 hex range thing for the CV. Didnt know, but would have produced the CV anyway.
As for landing in the USA, no, i have done that once as you know (Amerika in Flames AAR) and quite honestly it was great fun but i wont be able to repeat that again with the newer versions. Well, not in 1940-1941 anyway.

Re: AAR: Supermax VS Vokt (No Vokt pls) Version 4.0
The main reason the CV at port having reduced range was because we have increased the CV attack range considerably. That meant we saw players putting CV's in port and still being able to attack or intercept. The CV's got quick repair if needed and were less vulnerable to counter attacks. This typically happened with the Allied players putting CV's in English ports and having an extra air unit to protect France with or as escort for future strategic bombing.
CV's need to be at sea to function properly

Re: AAR: Supermax VS Vokt (No Vokt pls) Version 4.0
id say it make sense.
Nonetheless, my CV will not be used for defensive purpose in 41-42 anyway, and might not survive the later war.
