Southern League FOGR 2017 at Southampton
I am pleased to announce that we will be running the Southampton round of the Southern League again this year on Sunday September 24th. Pretty much the same format as last year but with a change of venue due to availability issues with last years site.
• FOGR 15mm 800 points
• Format - 3 x 2hr 30min games on pre-set terrain with first game commencing 09.00
• Period - Early 16th century Europe, Date 1494-1555 Maximillian Imperial, Italian Wars French, Trastamaran Spanish, Italian States, Italian Wars Venetian, German States, Early Henrician English, Later Henrician English, Scottish, Border Reivers, Irish, Anglo Irish, Peasant Wars (Not Hungarian), Caroline Imperialists, North African States and Early Ottoman Turkish
• Venue: Copythorne Parish Hall, Pollards Moor Road, Copythorne, Southampton SO40 2NZ (circa 5 mins from M27 Junction 1with plentiful free onsite parking and no GPS issues I hope!)
• Fee for the day is £15 plus £1 for tea, coffee and biscuits.
Closing date for entries will be Friday 8th September 2017 and Alasdair Harley has very kindly agreed to list check once again so lists to him please: alasdairharley@hotmail.com
Not entirely sure yet what to do about the potential changes to the rules as this early period seems to work well enough as is, with the exception of artillery. So, I propose waiting for more feedback over the summer before deciding on what changes to incorporate but feel free to get some early thoughts in about this or any other changes that would benefit. Finalised competition rules will be published no later than the end of July.
One request after last year is to please check your diaries before committing to this event. You always get one or two cancellations due to ill-health, for example, but last year we came very close to abandoning the event quite late on due to almost thirty percent of the original participants dropping out. We can accommodate 24 players at the new site.

Southampton does have one of the largest IKEA's in the UK, you know.

We also have a "yae" each from Ray Boyles and Keith Spedding. Splendid chaps both (even if they do take Western Effing Sudanese to a European-themed competition!).

Good to hear Bob. We'll be bringing 4 to you, as my son is also going to play (he's beginning to get into FoGR now - and his dice are as bad as mine!).

Re: Southern League FOGR 2017 at Southampton
After careful consideration we have decided that this years Southampton round will be a last hurrah for FOGR rules, lists and points as written. So we will not be using any of the amendments excepting those which reflect, on the whole, what has been pretty much in use for some time now, namely:
Artillery hit mounted on 5+
Artillery can no longer shoot through friendly LF
Light artillery can move as part of a division
Captured Artillery removed in JAP phase
For every base of heavy or medium artillery 6 bases of Foot battle troops must be taken(Later Ottoman Turks and N African States are exempt from this restriction)

He hasn't got that many ( except in his dreams) even if it were allowed!!!Not looking forward to facing Dave's 24 heavy gun battery......
I must admit being tempted to not bother even mentioning that particular restriction as our theme has never been troubled by the maximum artillery, mounted and no to minimal foot problem that introduced it in the first place.

If you can put up with a rusty rookie, then put me down for a place too as SWMBO is off that weekend with mum in law! Time for 'Enery to make a return!
