New scenarios:
Scapa flow
Atlantic Diversion
This concludes this DLC. Overall I think in terms of game mechanics the campaign was good, but I found it a little bit lacking on the content side. This is definitely my least favourite DLC.
Here are some of my recommendations for the devs to look at:
- Submarines should have the planing hull trait and difficult target trait
- Submarines have incorrect torpedo firing animation while surfaced (fire torpedo from side instead of front)
- AV Bussard unit seems inferior to AV Grief and costs more
- I would try out to reduce Submarine supply to 1
- please add total number of specialisation points that can be gathered in the whole campaign (I wasn't able to get the Shlachtshiffe specialisation because I lacked 2 points at the end)
- Wolfpack specialisation is too expensive since it only effects submarines which have marginal use, appropriate cost should be 3
Here are some gameplay tips that I gathered from my playthrough:
specialisations:
- either rush for carriers or don't but decide at the start (Operation Torch scenario secondary objective can be only achieved when you have carriers at that point)
- drop tank specialisation is not as good as in other campaigns
- wolfpack specialisation is probably overcosted
other:
- avoid using Heinkel He-59, use Condor instead (and Stukas after they are available)
- avoid using Bismarck battleships as they are too slow
- use Deutschland class cruisers as they have longest range
- avoid upgrading "DD Type 1936A Mob" to "DD Type 1936B", because DD Type 1936A Mob is superior
- good torpedo use can really make a difference
