Ladies and gents,
Just to confirm that once again Wessex Wargamers at Winchester will host the Belgarum tournament Badger farm community Centre Winchester on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of February 2018.
This will be held using field of Glory version 3 and will consist of four games.
The army can be any army or ally from any of The existing lists of swifter than eagle, immortal fire and legions triumphant, empires of dragons, blood and gold, rise of Rome, lost scrolls, Any army from these books and any ally must be from these books. It must be legitimate as a list up to and including 25 BC . If the version 3 lists are published in November as planned you can use a list from those army lists again up to and including 25 BC. If you want to check, please just ask.
It will be an 800 point tournament however you are additionally that allowed up to 50 points if those points are spent spend on wheeled units. . Therefore your Army list could be as high as 850 points if those additional 50 points are spent on wheeled units...and the wheels need to be shown. If you only spend 30 points on wheels you only get 830 points. These must not be generals and not field fortifications. If you are in any doubt as to whether an item counts as wheeled please contact the umpire / list checker David Bannister on Dcbannister@aol.com.
It will be fought on a 60 x 40" table and will use the version 3 rules and points costs . Therefore you will need to adjust the points in the existing army lists in line with the additional costs in version 3 .
We are planning to have up to 30 spaces but please contact us early to confirm your place as we anticipate considerable demand what will be the first fog version 3 tournament in the UK .
Entry will be £25, via PayPal to bigalwejane@hotmail.com. please contact Alan Macfarlane on dsf2000@yahoo.com.
There is plenty of free parking at the venue, which is at the Sainsbury car park, next to the badger farm community centre.
Many thanks

It will be an 800 point tournament, however you are allowed an additional 50 points if these points are spent on troops that have wheels (such as chariots / battlewagons / war wagons). List checker will decide on dubious "wheeled" items on a case by case basis.

David,
"The army can be any army or ally from the existing lists of swifter than eagle, immortal fire and legions triumphant " - Do you mean Rise of Rome rather than LT? Also are any lost scrolls or Empires of the dragon armies eligible?
Thanks
Jon

Good point raised, I missed off rise of Rome. Lost scrolls are in as well. I will have a quick think about the other books that cover this period.
Yes. Burton have moved their doubles tournament back a week, not our fault! David

Thanks for putting this on again David. I've sent my £25 to Alan via PayPal. Unfortunately the email address dsf2000@yahoo.com appears to be invalid. Please advise.
As the V3 lists have now been published presumably these must be used where applicable? Or can we still use the old lists if we prefer?

Re: Venta Belgarum tournament V3, 2018 24th 25th february
I will clarify.
You can use armies or allies from any of the existing FOG books Or the new book one, but you cannot mix and match, so no book one army with original book allies, or visa versa. If the new book two comes out, it is not available for belgarum.
Also, wheeled hand cart defences are not eligible for the fifty points extra. It must be a army unit, not a general. Nor are wheeled shield walls....I have been asked....
David
Armies can be Up to and including 25BC.

For some reason this weekend seems to be a Bermuda triangle for runners and riders - nothing published in months for this, or for Burton ..!

And it looks like at least four club teams entered for the king Alfred trophy as well. (Best three players from a club count, or best two if you only have two!)
