Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Hi,
I've been saving up my specialization points for the Waffen SS II specialization which is supposed to grant you the following:
+ 6 ground Command Points
+ 10 Resource Points per turn
I was able to get the Waffen SS II specialization after the Sevastopol scenario.
To my displeasure, in the next scenario (Voronezh), the Waffen SS faction has 18 land CPs and only 6 RP per turn.
If you don't have the specialization, then you'd get +2 RP per turn and 6 land CP.
So the specialization gives you +4 RP and +12 CP. It also seems to give 150 requisition points as well.
However, that is not what was advertised for it on the specialization screen.
If it were a cheap specialization I probably wouldn't have care much, but it costs 15 Specialization points to obtain.
I basically stopped playing the DLC because of this (there were other bugs too, already mentioned in this forum).
Very sad
Would appreciate the devs looking into the matter.
Thanks.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Thanks for reporting this here. Some other guys were talking about this in the general forum but it's better in Tech Support where the developers are more likely to take notice. Hopefully in will be fixed in the next patch.

Has there been any update on this? I'm just wondering if there's even a plan to address this or do you need more time if it is more difficult to fix?

Would this issue be fixed in the next update?
Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Issue is still present in version 5.2.3 / Steam. I'm holding off my playthrough until it's fixed.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
OP, having 18 CP and 6 RP per turn is much better than what you're asking for (which would hardly even be worth it). The amount of RP you want per turn doesn't even make sense for 12 total CP. You would get just twice the CP, but *5* times the RP per turn!
What we get right now for the specialization makes it worthwhile, and the numbers scale as you would expect, the same as the base specialization, at 1 RP per turn to every 3 CP's.
The effect we are getting is perfect, and doesn't need to be changed. I would even guess that it is actually working as intended. The only bug here is in the specialization's description. Just change the tooltip and we're good.

I would have to agree with both the original post and hrafnkolbrandr's opinion. The 18CP/6RP option makes more sense while just playing, but if you want to save up some RP's to give the Waffen-SS a tank (or two) or heavy artillery instead of just cheap infantry, it's almost impossible with this low RP/turn.hrafnkolbrandr wrote:OP, having 18 CP and 6 RP per turn is much better than what you're asking for (which would hardly even be worth it). Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Which is where the specialization giving you that 150 RP stipend really helps.
I know in blitzkrieg it was fashionable to use your SS troops in an expendable manner. You can't really do that anymore, true. Still, by the time I got the second spec, I was sitting on close to 100 RP for them.
Even without the stipend I would have been able to buy them a panzer iv partway through the next scenario. +6 RP per turn isn't bad at all. I feel like if it were 10, I would end up with stacks of RP for the SS that would never be used.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
I guess it's all about how you play. I really like my core forces and would never allow one of them to die (except recon units). And I always "elite repair" or not at all.
I remember saving up and giving my Waffen-SS a 17cm arty (290RP!!!) once, which then got attacked by a plane, suffered something like 4 strenght loss, and I wasn't ever able to repair that for the rest of the campaign. Or try repairing a heavily damaged 5-star heavy inf. unit, that alone can cost you more that 100RP.
What I meant was, that of course you can buy the Waffen-SS an expensive tank, but with a player like me, I wouldn't be able to use it, if I couldn't repair them right (and repairing a high star tank can cost you about 50RP per 2 strenght points easily).
Maybe they could ask the "tranfer funds to Waffen-SS" question (as at the beginning of Panzerkrieg DLC) at the beginning of every scenario. I would really like that.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
@hrafnkolbrandr I don't think this is a discussion if this bug is beneficial to the player or not. The specialisation effect doesn't correspond to its description and this needs to be fixed (either the effect or the description or both). Just to summarise:
Current description:
+6 ground CP for Waffen SS faction
+10 RPs per turn for Waffen SS faction
Current effect:
+150 RPs for Waffen SS faction
+12 ground CP for Waffen SS faction
+4 RPs per turn for Waffen SS faction
-4 RPs per turn for Germany faction
Please fix as soon as possible. I went through the specialisation csv file and it seems that specialisation effects are hard coded so it's not possible to fix this just by changing configuration.

@Mojko
LOL, you're right, of course. I think we just got lost in the topic and wanted to have the devs more opinions on how to fix this "bug"...

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
I'm not saying it should be this way because it is better for the player; that is just a nice knock-on effect that makes the spec worthwhile. I just think the way it works is more in line with what it should be. It's effects are almost exactly like the base specialization, just scaled up. As I said earlier even the ratio of RP to CP aligns with the base specialization.
Nobody seemed to have an issue with 2 RP per turn from the base spec, and suddenly 6 per turn is a problem? Did you complain when you got your 100 RP to buy SS units for taking the base spec? I'm not buying it. 10 RP per turn would be just way too much for 12 CP of troops. It would be too much for the 18 CP we're getting now. Some scenarios have your Germany earning 18 per turn, for 70 to 80 CP of troops. We need to increase that too? The idea that people are suspending their playthroughs for this just sounds a little out there to me.
Fix the description of the specialization, problem solved.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
I and many others had a problem with 2 RP and the Waffen SS units as such in Blitzkrieg. Point 1 the silly Wiking Ski Unit Point two Waffen SS Units had normally better materiel as their Wehrmacht counterparts and it is impossible to create a strong Panzerunit say Tigers in addition to what you have allready and hold it alive with just 6 RP.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Panzerfibel specialization gives your two-star experience for newly purchased tank. Well, it is not the case for Waffen SS tanks, only for Wehrmacht tanks. Too bad.
In addition, it would make sense to have the ability to transfer some accumulated income from Waffen to Wehrmacht.

I hope this issue gets adressed in the upcoming patch! I don´t buy any new DLC until it is!!!
Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Yep, same here. Don't feel like paying for another DLC (potentially containing more bugs) while the old bugs weren't fixed.DirkW wrote:I hope this issue gets adressed in the upcoming patch! I don´t buy any new DLC until it is!!!
Besides, would want to finish the Panzerkrieg before any new DLC campaigns.
Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Guys, be patient. Threats arent helping either. There is a Steam patch available to version 5.2.5 , please check it out if you play the Steam version.Agarwaen wrote:Yep, same here. Software development is complicated and as long as you dont have a clear overview over the complications of a certain project, demands and ultimatums seem a bit out of place. All will be fixed, dont worry.
Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Respectfully, Andy, an existing customer explaining how product functionality impacts his next purchase is called market insight (not threats demands ultimatums).
From the vantage point of my career in software development, the last release was unsuccessful. One measure of failure is the breakage in existing DLCs. Some defects appear to be showstoppers- a broken scenario breaks a campaign.
Software development is complicated, and this franchise gets more complicated with each DLC. Pressure to release new content is at odds with product stability.
The Aristocrats are undoubtedly putting heart & soul into this product, and I do wish them every success as they decide how to allocate resource. I have a lot of fun when everything works.
Please count me among the customers who weigh existing problems before making the next purchase decision.
Thank you for moderating a forum where folks can provide their input.

Re: Waffen SS II specialization bugged
Andy call it a threat if you want to. But fact is that the game that you stated as polished is anything like that. I follow the game since release (three years ago) and it is from my point of view that with the release of the winter war DLC (1,5 years ago)it became obvious that patching became to rare and much to late. The developers related this fact to the hindering policy of slitherine to schedule patches and now to a shortage in manpower. That slitherine hinders the applying of patches was just a sat excuse because other developers like those of Drive on Moscow fixed things in days why we wait for month on end. <Mod Edit>Removed personal nonsense</Mod Edit>
