Desert Rats:
Finished mission 9 (Tobruk) last night and enjoyed it immensely.
Brought the german/italian advance to a devastating stop and whiped out all enemy units.
Spoiler alert:
3 fast tanks waited in ambush until turn 5-6 and completely cut off the advancing enemy and seized their airfields. From then on it was a holding mission for some turns and then mopping up. Difficulty level FM.
But again I only used about 1/6 of the map, if even that much.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Hello Erik.. Tremendous work by the way. Can't even begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed this GGC so far. I have been running into issues though with new commanders. I see where someone reported the one on Belgrade /Channel Islands. I am having the same problem with the Metaxes Line and Minsk.. Achieved both those secondary goals which would grant new commanders and nothing as well. I have not gone further in hopes that maybe this has been fixed and I would just have to replay those few scenarios.
Re: Erik's campaigns
German Grand Campaign and Commanders.
Unfortunately, the commander allocations are pretty messed up.
I checked all (!) scenarios and there are various duplicate commanders and a number of the newer ones missing.
Sub-campaigns like Sea Lion would add commanders that were not present in the main campaign.
All in all a small logistical nightmare.
So I've decided to tackle commander assignments differently.
One commander will be assigned to each scenario starting with Poznan.
The secondary objects commander rewards will be replaced with specialisation points.
This means that I will not fix commander issues in the current campaign version.
Apologies for any inconvenience.

What would have happened if Hitler had postponed Operation Barbarossa?
P.S. Alternative history does not pretend to be completely historical.

Re: Erik's campaigns
I've just started Desert Rats
I've played three first missions, very fun and interesting puzzles.
Although the 3rd scenario on the 5th level is too much chasing the Italian tankettes on the map as for me. It starts to resemble a logic (puzzle) game too much but not tactical wargame.
However very fun, I'll play more and send report soon...

Re: Erik's campaigns
PS.I really liked the idea for F.Capuzzo scn
Finally I managed to complete all the tasks, I needed 5 attempts to get it (at the highest level of difficulty).
Great fun.

Fort Capuzzo :
Good small scenario which I had to begin again to win (middle difficulty).
Suggestion : add locations to know where we are ?

terminator
Good idea. I've added this and a couple of other locations.

Re: Erik's campaigns
I understand that these first three missions are for warming up, as well as for building a core substitute.
I tried several times and never managed to win the 3rd scn (tank battle under Bir Girba), I achieve a draw - I haven't lost any VPs but I have no chance to destroy all Italian tankettes at the 5th level. There are too many of them, they are too aggressive (skillfully cut off my units), I don't have enough equipment and resources.
I understand that it's intended to proceed to the next scn (Operazione E) with a small amount of RPs and weakened troops, so that the only alternative was a slow, skilful retreat?
The last thing - words of appreciation for the great preparation of this campaign from a historical point of view. The names and types of units, their numbers, even deployment and the course of action are very similar to the reality of 1940. thx

If kondi has winning problems, you'd better listen
There are altogether 13 tankettes, not a lucky number.
I've reduced the number of kills to at least 7.
Link updated in first post.

Re: Erik's campaigns
I don't complain, it rarely happens that I can't win, I would say that I value difficult campaigns for experienced players even more ...
Do these 7 tankettes cover the whole scn or only the second stage of the game when the second task appears?
It seems to me that I am destroying 4-5 tankettes in the first stage of the battle and then the target of destroying 7 more is extremely difficult to achieve when there is also infantry and artillery on the battlefield.
(I think I would slightly reduce the number of RPs available for Italians. Not much but ... )
But I check it first... Thanks

kondi
I'm not sure if the game will add/count tankettes killed before the objective was activated...

Re: Erik's campaigns
It seems so.
This time (ver. 4.8 ) when I received a message about the new orders it turned out that I've destroyed the required number of vehicles before.
I think, however, you can set 13 ...

Re: Erik's campaigns
Finally I won but only Minor Win
The number of destroyed tankettes also decreased, although the task marked as done, hmm ...
What do I have to do to make Major Win? I know that there are 2 arty units, 1 infantry and at least 1 tankette on the map, but I didn't attack them because they didn't attack me either.
The game ended after about 10 turns, then nothing happens anymore.

Good suggestion.GabeKnight wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 11:27 pmNo "Major Victory" possible without a sec. obj. by definition. Although Erik could change the text in this particular scen.
Changed the major/minor to simply Victory.
Adjusted no of tankettes to 10.
Updated link, but kept version number (laziness).

Re: Erik's campaigns
Last mission, in a really good campaign. Something is wrong here, the US forces, does nothing. And no Panthers or StuG appears.
