SUPER GREAT NEWS I AM ON YOUTUBE

Post by goose_2 »

Hey all my fellow players I had a friend over last night who was able to show how to use screen capture so I could record my gaming and I was able to also figure how to load it on a youtube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRHQSh ... er6cP1syLQ

So this has my first 2 posts.

They are not interesting, 1 is the start of Soviet Corps just to test it.

The other is me listening to a Lutheran Podcast while playing Leonidas on the Summer Offensive multiplayer, just to try it on my own.

So, obviously I will not be able to listen to stuff while I play.

The more important thing is I now know how to post my videos...so...I discussed this joy with my wife and we will be purchasing a recommended microphone this weekend so I can get started posting some of my gaming....

So with that said I am thinking about what would be worthy of broadcast.

Certainly not my Super Hard playthrough, because nobody would want to watch that cumbersome material as I need to reload turns over to do a layout differently, and constantly have to rethink things and it would not be interesting to watch me solve those kind of puzzles, that is fun for me, less so for someone else.

I have been thinking what would be perfect would be my Manstein 1945 East playthrough as I have been saving it in the hopes that I would figure out broadcasting, and now I have.

But I am sure some people would like to see me start a campaign, so I am thinking the US Corps DLC would be a fun one to start and playthrough as I have not played it since I beta tested it for Slitherine...

Thoughts?

I'd be interested in the super hard stuff actually, maybe just show the replay with commentary?

Replays also of the last two 44 east scenarios due to their difficulty and tying into 45.

And of course a big +1 for US Corps. I don't think there's any english ones on youtube so you'd be the first (and beat me since I'm too lazy  ). The next question is, what difficulty  ?

I absolutely agree, replays with commentary (e.g. what, why/why not, how, what went well, even better if, etc.) would be really interesting. Not that I ever get to this difficulty level but it would still be interesting! :D

GC East at Manstein (or for that reason any other campaign) would also be interesting for me as I could still learn a lot I guess…

Ah, and maybe your friend (from last night) can even help you install MODs then!

Congrats!
Great to have another of the best PC players on utube. Altho my level is more towards Gen I'm always inspired and by the better players to try different tactics in my own gameplays.

That's the one to put on the desk apparently, nice!

I just saw another MP replay, so when are you going on air then... also, any decision on the content yet?

I have been doing a lot of inordinate amount of thinking on this one...

Here are my thoughts:

1) I have had people ask me about doing the super hard playthrough,viewtopic.php?f=121&t=85224 which is not going to happen because watching that would be painful for anyone and something that takes a significant amount of concentration on for me, so instead I may consider doing a play by play on the replays, but unsure as watching replays is kind of wonky in the game...meaning jumpy and not always responsive on stopping...

2) 2 that will be for sure...Manstein 45 East...so looking forward to tackling this as it has been sitting waiting for me to catch up with aar which is getting close...and Guderian Blind winning path Brussels onwards as that is where I am at with that one...need to catch up on AAR though...

3) US Corps DLC is one I am itching to start as have not played since beta testing...I am thinking for difficulty level since it will essentially be blind should be Field Marshall/Rommel...That sounds painful enough for a first time.

4) Start a new Campaign trying out the Rundstedt mode detailed here: viewtopic.php?f=121&t=87445
at General difficulty for a fun little challenge.

5) Start a new Campaign of GC West with whatever they give me at Rommel level.

Those are the ones that seem doable and broadcastable, as they are fun enough to be playable, yet challenging enough to me to be worth a try.

Any recommendations for what you want to see first, or any recommendations for tweaks to these or something completely different?

I have 9 subscribed already and I really haven't posted anything exciting.

Looking forward to getting my voice on the youtubes.

Thanks for the continued interest and encouragement.

That's a good amount of options to choose from... I don't mind any but I would be more interested in 2, 3, 5.

Have you played AK yet? :)

Yes, I played Afrika Korps Blind Rommel Italian Challenge
aar found here:
viewtopic.php?f=145&t=75618

Very fun and challenging

My wife just let me know...Bummer News!

Because of the weather we have been having here in bfe Iowa our shipment has been delayed, now I will be lucky to get it tomorrow, more likely to be at my house on Friday...

So looks like this weekend will be my first opportunity to broadcast. :(

I know I should be happy about the speed with which this is happening, but I get so excited/impatient about these things.

Congratulations for taking that step.

It's really easier to do than playing this game.

You will also find a very simple editing software useful. Just drag the clip in and cut out what you don't like, only those functions - makes everthing a lot easier - like people interupting or catching a break.

If your screen stays as it is, the following advice can be forgotten: Add a minor webcam. Maybe as a present to yourself after doing this for some time. I saw it is not common with Panzer Corps videos and this is a shame. It makes everything so much more relatable and interesting with human facial expressions. ;)
It will be implemented in your footage recording automatically, but takes a little space in your frame - which sucks if your resolution stays at that width as it will block everything important. Just to keep in mind.

The other idea is to use a headset on occasion. I know this has become unpopular. Everybody wants a broadcast mic nowadays since it looks more pro. But it has its downsides. If surrounding is not optimized (like zero hall in the room), the headset speech sound is very often clearer. You also can't use the game audio on your speakers since the mic will pick it up and double the sound... which results in an echo. I mention it because you brought up your wish to listen to music. With a headset, that is not a problem. Or plug the headphones on to a seperate source and you are good - an easy workaround!

This will work out great for you! Have fun with it :)

Great, I just watched both videos, very nice!

For the US Corps DLC, are you going to start a new thread here as well, i.e. linking the videos similar to as braccada does?

Keep it up!

Ah and one question: I didn't really understand your comment regarding thehistoricalgamer and NightPhoenix?

Yes, I am planning on opening up a thread/aar and linking up to my youtubes...I was planning to do at work today, but unfortunately it is not letting me so I am going to need to do at home. :(

Thanks for the question...clarification...Night Phoenix whose abandonment coerced me into finding out how to record my gaming and post on youtube...

So his inspiration I tried to link to...he is back on youtube under a different name:
The Wargame Strategist
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIm14p ... EXVeXjqV0Q

He is unfortunately not going to play Panzer Corps however.

But I will ;)

Thanks for watching

Oh really, so I understood correctly... well, if he is back on youtube... (IMHO) it would be great if he can put back his PzC videos, just for reference/inspiration I mean... :)

And thanks for the correct link!

You do need to rectify the prestige issue in your US playthrough. You're getting more than if you played on Sergeant level. 228 for both the fort and the DV in the Formation scenario where you'd only get 200 each on Sergeant. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this series of videos. However, I don't think you need that much help or that it would be very informative in that case. At least they're short scenarios so it won't take long and would give you more practice on delivering your professorial game skills.

When I look at the difficulty level it tells me I am playing at Montgomery, but you are saying that based on the amount of prestige I am earning is too much to be on Montgomery/Rommel 50% prestige difficulty level?

If that is the case I will need to replay, because I want to be playing at a challenging level.

As I said, the 457% you're seeing as the softcap is being used so prestige you get is halved (for the 50% you specified) but then multiplied by 4.57 for the soft cap. Obviously, at the beginning your softcap should be 100%. You might want to reload your game files unless it just seems to be a US Corps issue and then maybe just that DLC. Have you seen that type of an odd softcap percentage before in any of your other playthroughs? Don't mean to be a jerk but I know you want a 50% prestige level and that's not what you're getting. Again, not a big deal early but I'm guessing before long you'll have so much prestige you won't know what to do with it and you'd be thinking how incredibly lame and easy US Corps is relative to the GC.
