Army allocations for Early Middle Ages . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

Please note the word "provisional" in the title of this thread. These lists may be subject to change, particularly if an A-rated player takes one of the three remaining places in the next few days.

Division A
Cunningcairn 4.97
dkalenda 6.87
GDod (will move down to Division B if an A-rated player joins in the next few days) 5.14
harveylh 6.76
markwatson360 4.44
NikiforosFokas 5.32
pantherboy 10.30
paulmcneil 4.46
ruskicanuk 9.47
Triarii n/r

Division B
ahuyton 5.33
DzonVejn 4.72
ggarynorman (will move down to Division C if an A or B-rated player joins in the next few days) 2.91
IMC 5.56
melm 4.09
Morbio 4.15
rexhurley 3.82
Ulysisgrunt 4.17
Vacancy
youngr 4.22

Division C
deve n/r
garymann n/r
Geffalrus n/r
greekiraklis n/r
Karvon n/r
MikeMUC 2.57
mkjhartmann n/r
MorkinTheFree n/r
Tiglath n/r
Vacancy

I have put 10 players in the A division, 9 in the B division and 9 in the C division. The reason for this is that I think it more likely that we will recruit players suitable for the B and C divisions now rather than another A-rated player. Again, like in Classical Antiquity, we have had a very small number of A-rated players return from Season 3 (only 3 of them), so this has meant everyone else shifting upwards in the divisions, apart from those players who were relegated.

Note: the number in brackets after each players name indicates the order in which the armies were allocated to them. I have been a bit looser in my definition of armies from the "same nation" in this section as there are far fewer armies available for selection until we get the next DLC. So Hepthalites and Sabir are treated as separate nations even though they previously were Huns and similarly I have treated Bedouin Arabs and City Arabs as two distinct nations this time. We can re-visit this in the future.

Just a few statistics for you . . .

In Division A, 8 players got their first choice, 1 got their second choice, 1 got their third choice, 0 used their fourth choice and 0 was asked to make a fifth choice. We can show this as 8-1-1-0-0. For Division B the figures were 7-1-0-1-0; and for Division C 7-0-1-0-0.

So overall, the figures for Early Middle Ages are 22-2-2-1-0, which tells me that the system has worked very well in this instance, with just over 80% of players receiving their first choice army.

Re: Tournament Diary and News . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

All the divisions and army selections have now been posted. There are still three vacancies in both Early Middle Ages and Biblical and the divisional line-ups may be subject to change right up to the end of Thursday 31st January. However, the army allocations will not change so the armies you have been given now will be the armies you will be using in the tournament. Regarding the vacant places, I will do everything I can to fill them as quickly as possible. We can actually add players up to the second Time Control check at the half-way stage so that gives us just under 6 weeks to get the extra players.

Themed Event: arrange your matches here . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

Instructions

Matches in this section are played to a tighter schedule and must be prioritised above matches from other sections. Please start all your group stage matches by Sunday 10th February. They must all be completed by Thursday February 28th. The knock-out matches will be allowed 14 days for completion. Unfinished matches will be subject to adjudication.

The group stage matches are single battles, while the knockout stage of the tournament will use paired games ("mirror matches") to decide who progresses to the next round.

Either player may set up the challenge in this section. Remember to PM your opponent as well as placing the challenge and password in this thread.

Scenarios will be used for all the matches in this section, not the "skirmish" mode.

The final % scores for each player are taken from the in-battle display in the top left-hand corner of the screen and not the Final Losses screen that appears after the battle has ended where losses are adjusted for wounded and deserted troops.

Reporting the result of a match is the responsibility of the winning player. However, if you are the loser in a match and notice that the result has not been posted within 24 hours please post the result yourself. This helps to keep the league tables up to date.

Where players finish with the same number of points at the end of the group stage, the points aggregate from the matches between those player will be used to decide the final places in the group table. If this does not separate the players then lots will be drawn to determine which player(s) proceed to the next stage of the competition.

Please be sure to familiarise yourself with both the Rules of Competition and the Players' Guide.

The Rules are here . . . http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 01&t=80755
The Guide is here . . . http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 01&t=89823

Classical Antiquity

Instructions

Either player may set up the challenge in this section. Remember to PM your opponent as well as placing the challenge and password in this thread.

For matches in this section players will select "Open Battle" and will field a "Medium" army and choose a "Medium" battlefield unless otherwise directed. Players are free to customise their army before each battle so "Default" is the correct Force Selection option. Terrain will always be "Pot Luck" unless otherwise specified. There are no exceptions to this standard set-up for a match. If a match is set-up incorrectly for any reason then it must be re-started as soon as possible.

Players will need to have both the base game and the Immortal Fire DLC to enter this section of the tournament.

Biblical: arrange your matches here . . .

Players will need to have the base game, the Immortal Fire and the Rise of Persia DLC's, and you will also need to download the TT mod (v1.5.3) to enter this section. You can get the TT multiplayer mod from here . . .

Please be sure to familiarise yourself with both the Rules of Competition and the Players' Guide.

The Rules are here . . . viewtopic.php?f=501&t=80755
