Division B

oscarius's Lombards beat Bluefin's Visigoths 66-28

Fun, short and sharp game. Visigoths were starting to win on the flank cavalry duel but alas my lancers and warbands in tandem had cracked his warband battleline before the horse could show up to assist them.

SLancaster (Macedonians 320-261 BC) defeated Barrold713 (Pontics 110-85 BC) 55-21.

Difficult fight as there was a stream between us. My cavalry helped out on flanks. Keep going, Barrold!

Division D

Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats Karvon (Bactrians) 46-11 and completes all 9 Classical league matches. Big thanks to all 9 competitors for the wonderful and challenging experience. :)

For their last battle, the Antigonids found themselves on the opposite side of the world from where they fought their first. Grizzled, battle hardened, and wiser, the Antigonid cautiously advanced against what appeared to be an all-horse Bactrian host. Constantly circled by horse archers, the Antigonids deployed and redeployed skirmishers, cavalry, and Thureos to drive them away while advancing on the heavy horse on the horizon. The cataphracts and lancers attempted to ride around the pikes and elephants to link up with some Irregulars hidden in trees and pounce on the light troops tangling with the horse archers. Unfortunately for them, the elephants were a bit too quick, and the heavy horse was unable to deliver decisive blows before the pikes could join the fight. An ugly melee developed, and the Antigonid heavy infantry carried the day with only about 3 turns to spare.

A salute to Karvon for his juggling of cavalry maneuvers far more complex than the simple forward slog of my pike blocks.

Division B

ahuyton (Bretons 411-579AD) beat ggarynorman (Byzantine 551-578 AD) 60-45

Very close game, the decider being just some rallied units at my side in the last couple of turns. A win for the Byzantine cavalry and Breton infantry in an interesting match-up.

Division A

ahuyton (Phokian 550-461BC) beat rbodleyscott (Cypriot 549-490 BC) 57-5

A bit of luck to start with plus a nice open playing field for my hoplites was the story of our game, along with terrible dice for RBS on nearly all of his morale checks.
