Division B
devoncop (Egyptians) drew with Syracuse (GDod) with the Syracuse army suffering 35% losses and the Egyptians 23% when nightfall fell.
Mountainous terrain each side of a deep gorge on which either side camped made victory almost impossible but we gave it a go !

sunnyboy has won Classical Antiquity Division D!
Despite a defeat this week to blobka, sunnyboy's seven consecutive wins before that is enough for him to win Classical Antiquity Division D with his Spanish army. Well played, sunnyboy!

klayeckles, Assyrian defeats ahuyton (phokian) 45:13
Terrain favored the assyrians, and phokians didn't quite figure out how to deal with the strange brew that was their opponent until the end, when it was too late.

Division C
Geffalrus (Athenians) defeats desertedfox (Carthaginians) 46-21. Good game to my opponent.
Carthaginian armies are stressful to plan for because they just seem to be capable of any strategy. In this case, I planned to defend against cavalry, and my opponent punked me by going hoplite heavy. Oops. I was a bit nervous about how my ponderous armored hoplites would fare against his more numerous and mobile African Spears. Head on, it was a bit of a wash - it was only when generals were thrown in that our units gained enough advantage to start breaking through. The main line clash got super ugly super quickly. When the dust cleared, my armored hoplites held out just a tiny bit longer, and that gave me time to exploit the lucky dice rolls that came through.
My 9th and final match of this bracket, and my last of this tournament. Big thanks to devoncop for suggesting I get involved, as this has been a lot of fun (some stress too, but so it goes).

Geffalrus has won Biblical Division C!
Arriving as a late reserve, Geffalrus and his Athenian steamroller have crushed all opposition in Biblical Division C to secure a maximum of 36 points from 9 victories. Well played, Geffalrus.

Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future, too. M.A.

Poll on trialling the use of larger armies is now closed
Here is the poll as promised. Players have two votes and can amend their votes at any time. I will let the poll run for a couple of weeks, I expect.
