FoG2 doesnt launch
FoG2 doesnt launch
Hi,
I have a new laptop running Windows 10. When I access FoG2 through Steam and press 'play' on the launcher I get an error message 'Cannot verify Directx 9.0c'.
I have run the 2010 Directx redist installer, the dll's are in the system32 and sysWOW64 folders and other games needing dx9.0c run fine.
The dxdiag is attached.
This is driving me crazy as ive invested plenty of money and time into this great game and I cant work out what to do,
Could you help please?
Thanks
Dave

Re: FoG2 doesnt launch
I don't personally know the answer to this issue, but I have drawn the problem to the attention of the technical support team.

Please attach the "error.log" file. This file can be found in your Windows documents folder (...\Documents\My Games\FieldOfGlory2).

Re: FoG2 doesnt launch
Hi, has there been any progress?
Re: FoG2 doesnt launch
It seems you don't have the last DirectX 9 version.
Please download this file from Microsoft:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... px?id=8109
Run the downloaded file ("directx_Jun2010_redist.exe") and extract it to a folder of your choice. Open that folder and find a file named "DXSETUP.exe". Run and let it install a full version of DirectX9c.
Run the game and check if the issue persists.

Re: FoG2 doesnt launch
Done that twice already, happy to repeat....i expect to get the same error. Ive tried both the web installer and the 'all files' package. Ive also run the .NET repair tool
As i said i can see the dll's in both the System32 and sysWOW64 folders, numbered 25 to 43....are you able to tell me which dx9 dll the game requires?

Re: FoG2 doesnt launch
The game requires DirectX 9c to be installed. It may be that you need to uninstall your current DX9 install to get it to work as it may think that you already have it installed when 9c adds quite a lot to prior versions.

Run a DxDiag again and attach it to your post.

Re: FoG2 doesnt launch
OK - please do the following. (This is all assuming you are running a 64 bit version of Windows 10 - which you almost certainly are).
+ Press Win+R to open a command box
+ Enter regedit and hit return. This should prompt a UAC confirmation. This then opens the registry editing software.
+ Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/WOW6432Node/Microsoft/DirectX
+ there should be a Version key shown. The required value is 4.09.00.0904 but it looks like that is not what is set on your system.
+ At this point you could try just changing the version value here to the correct version. The likelihood is this may solve the problem - you can always change it back if it causes any problems.
Also it would be useful if you could go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and right click Properties on D3D9.DLL and then the Details tab and let us know the version that is says there.
Cheers
