PDF: FoG2 Army List Descriptions
Hail commanders,
After being a long time lurker, I wanted to make a contribution to this wonderful community by sharing a PDF document I created. This document contains the complete Field of Glory 2 in-game army list descriptions for the base game and all currently available DLC. The PDF is an attempt to supplement (in at least a small way) the excellent "Factions" section of the core game manual by including descriptions of all army lists in a single document that can be referenced outside the game.
Link to the document on Google drive (37MB):

Last Updated: v1.5.28 (Wolves at the Gate DLC)
Sample entry:
I hope you enjoy, and please let me know if you have any comments or questions. All army list description text in this document is used with permission and Slitherine (c) all rights reserved.

Incredible! This is like the second thing someone has done that I fantasized about having. I started a bunch of lists a while back for reference but this blows that completely out of the water. Awesome, man. I am gonna be using this all the time. Great job! Thanks a ton.

Do you have a favourite Army? Why do you like Ancients?

Fine work! Very, very, very useful. Thanks a lot!!
Re: PDF: FoG2 Army List Descriptions
To all the thank-yous: you’re welcome!
Why Ancients? My primary interest has been WW2 but I enjoy all the games based on the FoG engine and love the way the developers have injected them with so much personality and flavor. The kid in me really enjoys playing with ranks of toy soldiers rather than counters with NATO symbols on them. So I would say my enjoyment of FOG2 has made me more interested in learning about Ancient history, not the other way around.
I don’t know that I have a favorite army, but I enjoy lists that are well-rounded rather than one-dimensional (like all infantry or all cavalry). I recently finished the campaigns King of Kings 1 & 2, and it was a lot of fun to experiment with the Sassanid Persians. They have elephants and cataphracts to punch holes in the lines, heavy infantry to follow up the attack or hold the flank, and the (expert) armoured horse archers are amazing and versatile.uneducated wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 7:46 pm Great work and thank you for keeping the link updated!

I love to see the figures too. The beauty of the designs on the shields and the ornate armour is wonderful. I especially like to see the camels and elephants and horses.mgardner wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 9:03 pm To all the thank-yous: you’re welcome!

I must try those Sassanid Persians!

Thank you very much for your work!
Re: PDF: FoG2 Army List Descriptions
Excellent work! I've been building and maintaining a list of the army lists in a document format that allows me to use checkboxes so I can tick off which armies I've fought with, but sometimes I'd have to go in-game to read the army descriptions. Your list has addressed the weakness of my system. A very cool bit of work you've done there, and something very useful
Re: PDF: FoG2 Army List Descriptions
I always lurk - rarely post. I want to say thank you so much. This so amazing. I have all the DLCs for FG2 and I am intimidated by how many armies there are - and how should I be playing them 'historically'. Thank you! This is amazing work!

Re: PDF: FoG2 Army List Descriptions
Just a quick note: I’ve been keeping the PDF up to date with the latest official patches (e.g. after they leave beta). I’ve also added hyperlinks from the table of contents to the army list page, and updated each entry to indicate which map set is considered its “home” default (e.g. Mediterranean, Middle East, etc.).
