I agree that 48 hours/turn is probably a good setting. That allows players to deal with real life, if necessary However, because the game moves so quickly, frequently everyone will be done well before the time limit. In those cases, the game simply processes the turn. I don't think I'm violating the NDA when I say that the game works very well in multiplayer.devoncop wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 2:22 pm Cheers Steve. Good to hear.
I am fortunate in being retired so could easily manage this. Those who work may not be so lucky so I went with a 48 hour turnaround for this first game.
I am sure for my second game I would go for a 24 hour turnaround for those who can manage it.

That is what I have been hearing too.
It will be great to see how it copes with 14 of us when the game launches....(assuming everyone who has committed to playing logs in on time)

Having found that the Etruscan citizens were less enthusiastic that his advisers had led him to believe at hearing he was to be their proposed overlord ( and read the manual )....Asty has made a final decision as to his nation and changed to Syracuse !!

I'm up for joining the game.
I'm up for playing as anyone, as I have a pre-release of the game, I'm happy to take a weaker Nation, you know, someone like Rome.
Parthia would be fun though.

Quick Announcement :
The first issue of the celebrated "Papyrus Spysheet" , essential information and scurrillous gossip rag will be circulated one week from today....the day before the game releases.
Players will then have no excuse not to storm through the game having been fully informed as to diplomatic shenanigans that have been underway prior to game start
Editors note : Any relation between the contents of the Spysheet in issue 1 and the actual state of affairs in the game is entirely co-incidental

Quick announcement that the Epirus player has had to withdraw so we are now 14 rather than 15 strong.
Epirus is no doubt now moving up the menu for certain over ambitious states in the region

I am not sure but Gusington (who is playing the Bactrians) and who is a writer for Grogheads.com is apparently going to be doing an AAR on it.

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?
Is the number of missed turns able to be adjusted? I'm concerned about the viability of the multi-player game if it isn't. I'd expect a typical game to be 100 turns or more long, which means that the players need to commit to playing for a year without a break of more than a few days. I'd expect most people to take holidays for a couple of weeks once a year and some people have jobs which may mean travel for a week or so. The only viable way I can think of to participate in the multi-player game is if the number or turns before the AI takes over is increased, or if a buddy can play your turns for you. I wouldn't really want to share credentials, so can control be delegated to another player, or non-player, for a period of time?devoncop wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 5:38 am That is exactly correct.
Same lobby system as FoG2.
48 hour turns..after the last player has played their turn the turn is played out or it happens at the 48 hour deadline if one or more players haven't submitted a turn.
If a player misses 3 turns the AI takes over their country.
There will be email notifications (if you have those switched on) when a turn is ready for you.
Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?
I am not sure on that one.
We will need to see when it comes out.
I would treat this game as a trial to be honest so folks can see how they find things rather than anything too serious. If players have to drop out that is fine as the AI will just continue with their groundwork.
I am led to believe that Slitherine are looking at adding post release the ability to join (or rejoin) MP games after they have started so that will solve the issue you bring up at a stroke.

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?
It's not this game that concerns me, although it would be nice to be in from the start. It's more the viability of the MP game if you can't delegate for absence or can allow the AI to play for a few turns, in this instance I don't see how a player can be expected to complete a game that lasts 100s of turns. I certainly wouldn't want to be changing the turn cycle to be any more than 48 or 72 hours otherwise the game will take forever and any less and absence is a problem.
Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?
I get your point so if they do add the ability to rejoin a game and hand over to the AI at any point that would be perfect.
Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?
Multiplayer seems an interesting feature that adds value to the game. In the future, If I have fun with the game, I'll try MP later.
