War Declaration 're Client States
Hi
Can anyone confirm if a declaration of war on a Client State of a third power automatically counts as a declaration of war on the third power as well or not ?
(Purely hypothetical question in case any of my upcoming MP opponents read this )

Re: War Declaration 're Client States
Ah, 9.4.3 covers this but in rereading could have been clearer. Basically the only direct diplomacy a client state can be part of is the decision to break from their relationship or if the senior power wants to absorb them.
So if you try to dow or peace a client, they will tell you to go and talk to their controlling power.
Apols, thought I'd caught all the negative exclusions - ie you can only do what it says but its not clear what is excluded - from the manual but that one survived.

That clears things up Lokki thank you !
The manual is a triumph by the way.

Re: War Declaration 're Client States
Is it possible to gift a Client State a region rather than cash ?
I know this would not be common but it would presumably improve relations and may also consolidate territory more rationally on occasion if it involved a less valuable non objective region that had been conquered to avoid the ongoing decadence hit....
Secondly....can the regions of Client States provide supply to their "overlord" power ?

Re: War Declaration 're Client States
Not for now, you can only give cash to a client state. But a client state can relinquish a region which is surrounded by 3+ regions of his protector (or even adjacent to a region of his protector, if it is also one of the protector objective).
Supply sharing is done between allies and client states / protectors yes.

but
he relenquish to a region under what condition?
--- after a certain number of turns with this configuration?
--- from a current relationship threshold? (If so I think the threshold must be high because if the Junior Client State does this it is to stay in good terms with the Senior Client State)
--- should the region be surrounded by armies?
I am really very interested by the answer
especially that in the options of diplomacy I do not see the possibility to ask the junior a region in exchange of a significant growth of current relationship
it might be a good idea
--- or ask a region in exchange for a significant growth of current relationship (between junior and senior only)
--- to be able to give up a province too far away (and that we can not protect or very difficult)
to a neighbor who will be very happy
I think other players would be interested
of course it should be limited only to border regions, otherwise it would be meaningless
from a historical point of view it is realistic, the border arrangements were frequent especially at this time
Re: War Declaration 're Client States
at the moment, there is no region trading option. This may change post-release.
There are mechanisms by which clients will give up regions if they are surrounded by the senior partner (this to stop odd borders emerging during a joint war).

Re: War Declaration 're Client States
very well but can we have details on these mechanisms?
Pocus spoke of:
3+ regions of his protector (or even adjacent to a region of his protector, if it is also one of the objective protector)
it's automatic or there is an additional trigger:
number of turns / current relationship threshold / surrounded by armies?
the fighting is very well thought out but your game shows a beautiful diplomatic wealth that is very interesting too

Re: War Declaration 're Client States
You know to have good relationships with the client-state, like 50+. Then there is a small chance (aroun d10%) per turn they will retro-cede the region. That's automatic so.
