Playing as Dacia...stil no way to get Light Infantry/Skirmishers?!
So I'm either blind or missed something obvious, but I'm playing as Dacia, around 20 turns in and I never saw any building proposal that let's me create Light Infantry (or Skirmishers, not sure of the proper terminology) or Archers for that matter. I thought ok, that's bad luck but then I realized that I also don't have Light Infantry/Skirmisher/Archers in the unit queue screen (where I can see Heavy Cavalry, Mercenaries etc..things that I can't actually build yet) Very weird...
I checked the manual and the building guide on Steam, still confused...

you need to conquer a province that has light infantry as the local unit type

Huh! So I have a province with provincial unit Dacian Heavy Infantry and one with Dacian Heavy Cavalry, so I assume once I manage to unite a Province that has Light Infantry I will get a Dacian specific unit of that type (some sort of Slingers maybe?). Sadly I can't see a way to check the unit type of provinces before they're created so I'll just need to stumble upon one (and take good care of the 3 Thracian Slinger units I started with).
The interesting fact is that I have acces to common (non-faction) Heavy Infantry/Heavy Cavalry (once I have the appropiate buildings) but not Skirmishers. I wonder if this is faction-specific to Dacia, or a Tribal trait or what...

its how Dacia has been set up
as a hint to where the units are - go for one of the Illyrian provinces
you can also check out the units database

You get LC skirmishers from the start IIRC, which are better anyway

Thanks, will keep that in mind!
By LC you mean Light Cavalry right? Yes, I can create them from the start. They are good indeed, but in FoG2 they're not that good compared to Slingers. Less damage and what's even more important, as I learned on my skin, they can't pass through your units so you can't really put them in front of the infantry.Southern Hunter wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 11:04 am You get LC skirmishers from the start IIRC, which are better anyway

Ah most people do Empires resolution apparently. In Empires there's not a very strong benefit to skirmishers, slingers, etc compared to the difference in FoG2.mihnea_1309 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2019 11:29 amThanks, will keep that in mind!

I mean you can win the FoG2 battle without ever attacking with your infantry in many cases. And you can win even more of the time with only a small use of infantry. But still large majority from skirmishers.
