Triarii - Spanish 900-1049 AD with Andalusian ally beats Cunningcairn - Byzantine 963-987 AD with Arab (Syria/Iraq) 890-1008 AD ally 69-41
A close and tough game - many thanks to Cunningcairn for another nail biter.

Division D
MikeMarchant (Ancient British 60 BCE-80 CE - Allies: Roman 24-196) defeated Ulysisgrunt (Kingdom of Soissons 461-486 AD) 62/51
This was a titanic struggle which swung back and forth between us the whole game and could have gone either way. Danny's Limitanei were exceptional, performing more like elite troops rather than raw ones, but the death and destruction dealt out, here, there, and everywhere by my chariots tipped the balance.
Thanks for the game, Danny, a real treat.
Best Wishes
Mike

Division D
Schweetness101 - Arab (Abbasid) 874-946 AD defeated gamercb - Rus 960-1053 AD: 60-54
A very close game that was touch and go the whole time. I don't think that the disparity in percent routed was ever much over 10%. I sent lancers ahead to meet Russian spears on a hilltop that dominated the map in the middle towards the russian side, with some spare cheap muslim spearmen holding the right, and a force of veteran dailami foot on the left. With lots of ranged units to cause disruptions first, I charged the dailami up the hill on the left, but out of the forest on my right a great mass of hitherto unseen Russian spearmen, massed archers, and horse archers emerged to roll up my weak right. Both of our respective right sides were routed, and by the end we had switched sides.

harveylh - Kyrenean Greek 630-461 BC with Libyan ally 549-301 BC ally defeats XLegione Achaemenid Persian 550-546 BC, 47-22
Woods and mountains provided flank coverage for the Persians but no rough terrain on the Persian side of the battlefield forced them to fight hoplites on the open plain. Well deployed Immortals and bow cavalry almost defeated the Greek right flank. Good game.

SnuggleBunnies (Thracian (Getae) 680-330BC) defeats desertedfox (Egyptian 664-571BC) 49-23
The Egyptians punched through the Thracian center, but the Thracians rolled up the Egyptian right and fought a successful delaying action on their left thanks to a large rocky outcropping and forest. GG.

markwatson360's (Franks) defeated Rob123's Indians 54-29.
The Indian elephants did quite a lot of damage but the medium indian foot were no match for the shieldwall's of the Franks on a mostly open map. An attritional battle. Thanks for the game Rob.

Division D
vakarr (Thracians) defeated bomber23 (Syracusans) 55-18 after a terrific tussle which could have gone either way.
There was a hill covering most of the front of both armies with a wide stream at the bottom, between the armies. There wasn't a great deal of disordering terrain but there was just enough for the Thracians to survive the Syracusan onslaught. The Syracusan Spaniards fragmented a Thracian spear unit with their first charge only to be fragmented themselves when charged by the Thracians' allied veteran hoplites. A charge across the stream by massed Thracian peltasts disrupted a hoplite unit that was uphill of it (it had previously suffered some casualties but that was a surprise!). Another massed Thracian peltast unit then took it in the rear and it became fragmented. A Syracusan heavy cavalry unit fought three massed peltast units for ages and fragmented one, before finally succumbing to their superior numbers. Thanks for the game, mate!
