Re: Please read: First Time Control check, Tuesday October 22nd . . .
Tomorrow is the day for the first Time Control check. Players are required to have completed one match in each section that they have entered. There are a number of exemptions including players who have also entered the Themed Event (these matches take priority) and those who have joined the tournament after it started as reserves. I will be sending PM's today and I will also be checking the in-game multi-player lobby to identify challenges that may have been missed in the early season rush.

Re: Please read: First Time Control check, Tuesday October 22nd . . .
I have just done my preliminary check and all divisions and groups in Classical Antiquity, Early Middle Ages, Biblical and the Themed Event have already passed the Time Control check. There are a few players who have not registered a result in these sections but they either have exemptions (entered Themed Event or joined recently as a reserve) or have notified me that they would be away at the start of the tournament (cromlechi). So I will just be checking Late Antiquity more thoroughly where there are 10 players yet to register a result although 5 of them also have exemptions. So, overall, things are looking very good indeed.

Re: Please read: First Time Control check, Tuesday October 22nd . . .
I have completed the multi-player lobby check (up to and including challenges posted on 14th October) and I have found nine potentially missed challenges. I have sent PM's to the players involved asking them to start the match as soon as they have a free space. Again, the situation is not too bad at all really.

Division B
General Shapur - Kingdom of Soissons 461-486 AD defeats devoncop - Moorish 350-698 AD 51:20
A fun see sawing game. Pulling back against the moorish advance then a reversal chasing them all the way to the other side of the field. Went to the last turn.

Division D
MikeMarchant (Ancient British 60 BCE-80 CE - Allies: Roman 24-196) defeated phoyle3290( Lombard 568-569 AD): 62/53
This was a real slugfest that went right to the wire. The advantage seemed to swing back and forth between us, and phoyle could easily have come out with the victory instead of me, but the gods of war (or the dice, if you're less religiously inclined) answered my sacrifices more favourably than his.
Great game, phoyle, you were very unlucky in this one.
Best Wishes
Mike

Lots of Jewish zealots put up a dogged resistance on a hill and exacted a heavy price from the Samnites who were forced to attack uphill. Thanks for the game.

Wherever we went they kept chasing us. We were so scared. And then, when they caught us... I can't say, there might be children reading. Those poor elephants.
Great game, Colin, always a pleasure. Thanks.
Best Wishes
