Hey, just wanted to point out that my match with Questar17 appears to have been entered as the result against SawyerK instead. My Classical Antiquity match against SawyerK is still ongoing.

Division D

gamercb (Roman 313-378 AD) beat SawyerK (Pictish 210-476 AD with Scot-Irish 50 BC-476 AD ally) 48-15

A light horse held off three of the enemy light horse whilst the Roman infantry sought out the weaker Pictish Spear and finally achieved a victory. The Picts had really bad luck when a unit with general lost a combat, and with -2 in the morale check, the general died and the unit double dropped, exposing their flank.

Division C

Karvon (Sarmatians) defeated DzonVejn (Saka with Seleucid ally) 60-37 for a 4-0 win.

Our horse armies first bumped into each other in a mountain pass and then a dense forest before finally finding a more relatively more reasonable field of battle, though even it was far from welcome; both our flanks were dominated by large woods and the right sector further restricted by a series of steep rough hills beyond the trees. Behind these hills was a large forest blocking off most of the Saka left flank. Never-the-less it was an improvement on our initial encounters. (we agreed to reroll the first two fields).

We deployed a division of irregular foot in the forest on our right screened by light foot. The rest of our light foot we deployed along the edges of the forests on our left. We deployed four divisions of lancers supported by a couple of skirmishing horse in the center between the forests.

The Saka had a horde of light and heavy horse archers spread across their front with a few light foot covering the hills on our right. They also had elephant supporting some heavier horse in reserve.

We swung three divisions of lancers out wide to the left then swept in on the Saka forcing them towards the hills and forests, while one served a blocking force of sorts in the center. Our lights and medium on the right advanced out the forest and swept over the facing hills coming in on the flank of the advancing Saka horde and catching some of those evading our lancers coming from our left. We lost a number of lancers to the Saka horse archers and elephant, but managed to catch and crush enough of them between our two pincers to secure the victory.

Division B

sunnyboy (Huns) beat IMC (Roman) 69-42

The advantage swung several times in the fight, first with the Huns then the Romans. As the battle progressed and gaps started appearing in the Roman lines. The Huns were able to use their mobility to advantage and strike at exposed flanks breaking down the enemy formation, securing the win on the penultimate turn.

Thanks for a challenging and enjoyable game Ian.
