Weekly round-up
CheAhn (Arab Conquest) is still the leader in Division A and he has set a good target of 29 points from his 9 matches. Two players can overtake him - harveylh (Khorasanian) and Nosy_Rat (Abbasid) who both have 5 wins from 6 matches and are yet to play each other. There is a similar situation in Division B where rbodleyscott (Arab Conquest) has set a target of 30 points from his 9 matches. Again there are 2 players who can still overtake him - melm (Andalucian) and the unbeaten Geffalrus (Polish). fikabo has cruised to the top of Division C after posting his seventh straight win and only sunnyboy (Scots) can now mathematically overtake him. To do this sunnyboy must win his last 4 matches decisively, including a match against fikabo while fikabo must also to markwatson360 (Frankish) without gaining a point. The situation in Division D is unchanged where Questar17 (Pictish) needs to harvest 16 points from his remaining 5 matches to overtake Schweetness101 (Abbasid) whom he defeated in their match together.
Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
Nosy_Rat (Division A) 5 matches
Snugglebunnies (Division A) 4 matches and finished
Geffalrus (Division B) 4 matches
melm (Division B) 4 matches
fikabo (Division C) 7 matches
gamercb (Division D) 4 matches
Questar17 (Division D) 4 matches
Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 35 out of 45 matches completed
Division B - 29 out of 45 matches completed
Division C - 35 out of 45 matches completed
Division D - 30 out of 45 matches completed
These are good match completion rates.
Player of the week
Snugglebunnies (Division A), markwatson360 (Division C) and fikabo (Division C) all with 2 wins this week.

Weekly round-up
ianiow (Arab) has returned to the top of Division A this week in his quest to win this championship for the third time in a row. Just to illustrate how close this division has been, ianiow's last match is against bottom-placed nyczar (Assyrian) and should nyczar win it decisively it would still be possible for him to win the league outright if he was to win his last 4 matches. Other players still in with a shout are desertedfox (Egyptian), who has 5 wins from 7 starts, and sunnyboy (Lydian) who has 3 wins from 4. The situation in Division B is clear-cut. markwatson360 (Median) needs to win his last three matches decisively to overtake Ulysisgrunt (Cypriot), who has finished with 30 points. markwatson360's remaining opponents are Barrold713 (Boiotian League), General Shapur (Egyptian) and lunecastle (Assyrian).

Division D
MikeMarchant (Ancient British 60 BCE-80 CE - Allies: Roman 24-196) defeated gamercb (Roman 313-378 AD): 64/55
This was a totally epic battle that swung back and forth from turn to turn.
It started with a good opening for the Brits as they took on and defeated the Roman lights. Meanwhile a large force of chariots raced wide left, while the main force were deployed failry wide right. The Romans moved to occupy the centre ground and deply on a large hill. The Roman cavarly did a good job of meeting the chariots with a large cavalry force scattering them, destorying them, forcing them from the field and generally preventing them from playing much of a part. When the two infantry forces met on the hill the fighting was brutal, but very slowly started to favour the Brits.
As more Roman infantry arrived, along with elements of cavalry, the Brits started to suffer a major reversal, especially with well-timed flank attacks hitting them hard. Just as the Brits started to fall well behind, the few surviving chariots joined the fray to the Roman rear and warband started to wonder why they'd been running away and turned to make their way back to the sound of the swords. At about the same time Roman cavarly units started to return from distant parts of the field and the fighting ground on and on, with neither side giving up much dirt.
Back and forth the score oscillated, until finally, the Romans started to feel the attrition and a few auto-breaks, allowing a greater concetration of Brits against eh few remainign Romans, along with an heroic last rear charge from the remaining chariot tipped it over the edge.
A really tough, really long, and really bruising battle this one, and for most of that time I felt close to defeat. A very unlucky defeat for Colin, in a battle that could have ended up with either fo us the winner.
Best Wishes
Mike

Re: Late Antiquity; winners post your results here . . .
It was a tough linear and balanced battle. But seeing the superiority of the Palmyran cavalry in my right flank, i planned to lead the game to a marginal defeat and get 1 point with my superior warbands in the left, but i didn't make it. Good game Barrold!!Barrold713 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 5:48 pm Division D for Diligent

Division D
gamercb ( Rus 960-1053 AD) beat Challenge1 (Viking (Ireland) 900-1049 AD with Scots ally) 69-50
This was a tough battle with that almost reached nightfall. The Vikings fought hard and breaking them was difficult. It could have gone either way, but in the end, the flanking attacks of the Russians won the day.
Thanks for a great game.

Division B
Morbio (Roman 197-284 AD with Arab 312 BC - 299 AD ally) defeated NikiforosFokas (Sassanid Persian 477-590 AD) 68 - 59
Over a 10 point lead and only needing a point to win was whittled down to a single point advantage until a cavalry unit broke and a chain rout made this look easier than it was!
