Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Guys,
I don't know why, but these still will not work for me. If you put the game up I can pick them up. Very odd. I must be missing something, but I do not see it.

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
3 results to report:
Tarraco
Vandals (Edmund) 60/64 vs Romans (fogman) 64/64
Edmund 10.0
fogman 9.4
Extremely close game. Honours were even on the Roman right flank and Fogman actively reinforced his exposed left flank. As a result he successfully held off the danger of a Vandal flank attack - which I think is what decided the historical battle. Surprisingly, the Vandals broke through the centre, while the Romans withdrew carefully to high ground. Casualties continued to mount for the less well armoured Vandals, but some of the victorious central units managed to turn outwards into the flanks - just enough to snatch a narrow victory. Thanks for an excellent game Fogman.
Tarraco
Romans (Edmund) 43/64 vs Vandals (McHarg) 68/64
Edmund 10.6
fogman 6.7
In the mirror game, the differences were not great, but the Roman centre managed to hold, so the higher attrition caused by the better armour of the Romans gradually took its toll. The result probably flattered the Roman position. Thanks for the game Geoff.
Campi Catalauni
Huns (Edmund) 30/62 vs Romans (iandavidsmith) 69/68
Edmund 10.1
iandavidsmith 4.8
The Hunnic allies on the left died almost to a man, but survived long enough for the centre to break through - which is where the bulk of the points are available. Not much happened on the right. Thanks for the game Ian

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
ROUND 20: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
Shorn of its Western half, the Roman empire struggled on until the reign of Justinian when its fortunes were revived in a spectacular way. North Africa was recovered from the Vandals in the 530s, then Italy from the Ostrogoths in the 550s (but mostly lost again to the Lombards shortly after). On the Eastern borders, wars against Sasanian Persia were mainly successful before the great crisis of the early 7th century.
TAGINAE 552
After early successes by Belisarius in the reconquest of Italy, war dragged on until 552 when Justinian committed another field army under the command of Narses. The decisive battle came at Taginae where the Ostrogothic heavy cavalry met its match.
SOLACHON 586
Chronic warfare between the Sasanians and the Romans in the 6th century culminated in the great battle of Solachon. By that time, the Roman army in the East had come to mirror that of the Sasanians. It was thus two cavalry armies that met on the field in northern Mesopotamia.
